At 5:30 a.m. this morning, Vice President Kamala Harris cast the tie-breaking vote to approve the massive 1.9 trillion dollar Covid relief package. As a point of reference, less than two months ago, then-Majority Leader Mitch McConnell was wringing his hands about a $600 billion bill being "too much".

Elections have consequences.

Best part: Republicans got three small amendments to the bill added. Right before the final vote, Democrats flexed their political muscle and adopted an amendment that stripped all three Republican amendments from the final bill.

Why?

Because they could.

They're learning to play hardball.

Fuck Republicans. The door is that way. Instead of protecting Fascist traitors, they could do something worthwhile...start the Constitutional Amendment process allowing States to leave. I promise...we won't fight to keep you

The people who want to preserve the Constitution aren't the ones who need to leave.

The ones who want to "Progress" the nation into the total opposite of it's founding initiative??? Yea, that's you authoritarian leftist.....you guys are the ones who need to leave.

Go form your progressive utopia so us bible thumping gun toting Americans who love all that freeDUMB you and your comrades hate with a white hot searing passion can continue on being the land of the free.

Why do you hate the Constitution so much?

Why do you hate the Constitution so much?

I'm NOT the Constitution hater :D

The folks trying to "progress" the USA into a unitary state run by simple majority democracy with highly restrictive regulations on EVERYTHING via centralized federal authority and drastically limited or outright eliminated civil rights.

The "progressives'?? Those are the Constitution haters. :D Not the people who want to keep their states and civil rights intact....those are freedom loving patriotic Americans.

Nonsense. The Senate did not pass a Covid $1.9 billion relief bill. It was a procedural vote to set the stage for using reconciliation as a means of avoiding a filibuster. The actual bill will not be voted on until late February or March. Even with reconciliation, passage of the $1.9 trillion package is not likely to pass. Joe Manchin has made it clear he does not like the price tag and certain provisions of in the bill. Expect the final bill to be slimmed down by reducing the number of people who get checks, and dropping the $15 minimum wage provision.

Correct!!! Typical lefty loons jumping over their skis, not only ignorant of the constitution but also on how congress works.

Months ago the loons accused conservatives of not following the science and yet the teachers unions won't follow the science.

Biden is committing national suicide.

Manchin voted in favor of it last night, dumbass. This IS the final procedural hurdle to make the bill fillibuster-proof. Because changes were made it now goes back to the House for approval and then on to the President Biden's desk for signature.

Manchin voted for $15 minimum wage too

Go clutch your pearls elsewhere, sweetie.

This, for now. The Republican Party is the party of white nationalism and crazy conspiracy theories. The change toward unity, bipartisanship, and rational thought is for them to make.

LoL. Here are your exact words: “At 5:30 a.m. this morning, Vice President Kamala Harris cast the tie-breaking vote to approve the massive 1.9 trillion dollar Covid relief package.” Now you’re trying to pretend you didn’t mean it and that you actually meant to say it was a procedural vote. Do you libs ever get your facts straight before posting shit?

if i remember correctly the us constitution was a great progressive victory back in the 18th century  or in other words progressivism is US patriotism :p

Poor lil Dumb-Dumb just likes to argue, he doesn't actually believe 95% of the tripe he posts. ;)

You're conflating "progressivism" with liberalism.

The USA was founded on the ideals of Classical English Liberalism (alt-reich fascism by most "progressive" standards).

Thus all the right wing EVERYTHING about the Constitution that "progressives" want to regulate away or just ignore.;)

Correct again!!!!

It is their choice. But we can't sit back and wait. Passing a Constitutional Amendment does not mean States will leave. It removes the excuses. It only gives States the option to leave, which is illegal right now. It is a choice before violence...and every non-violent option needs to be possible.

Let's take an example...Texas. Once again they are talking about succeeding. Give them an option...ok...you can leave if 60% of your populous votes to leave. Let them then vote. When 60% says no...we like what we have...it removed the bullshit.

The progressive socialist authoritarian party is the party of TYRANNY by party majority. The socialist shitstains lack the institutional knowlege of the constitution and conduct themselves as the authoritarian shitstains they really are, for example, two impeachment attempts, one by party majority tyranny and the other a drive by impeachment for a president out of office. Both could not get a senate conviction. Nother more than dog and pony shows for the supreme narcissist speaker of the house.

Biden is a fool and is committing national suicide.

The US Senate voted this morning — at freakin' 5:30 a.m. Eastern — to move forward a draft budget bill that will eventually become the Biden administration's $1.9 trillion economic stimulus and coronavirus funding package. Why so early? Because the weirdass Senate rules on passing a bill by reconciliation demanded it. As Politico explains, since the budget reconciliation process allows a majority party to pass budget legislation with a simple majority, with no chance for the minority party to filibuster, the rules require that the bill be subjected to votes on all the amendments any member of the Senate might choose to put forward. That procedure has come to be called a "vote-a-rama," and it's exactly as dignified and serious as the name implies, since none of the amendments are actually binding as the bill moves forward to its final form.

It's basically a kind of hazing, although it's also semi-serious, since it's a chance to "express legislative priorities" — or in reality, an opportunity for both parties to make senators from the other side vote on stuff that might make for a useful attack ad somewhere down the line. Yes, really, that's about all it's good for. It's all about messaging, with amendments that a former GOP budget staffer called "If I Had a Pony" amendments.

:)

I wonder how many trumptards send their check back... I'm sure all the trumptards here make too much to qualify.

From NPR:
JUST IN: President Biden said raising the federal minimum wage to $15 an hour is unlikely to happen as part of the $1.9 trillion coronavirus aid package.

“I don’t think it’s going to survive,” Biden said in an excerpt of an interview with CBS released ahead of the Super Bowl.“

Caved already. Sorry Bernie.
