Breaking.

No big surprise. I am ready and willing to do my part as an American, and will get one.

I think they're aiming for 6-8 months after second shot.

Trials for third shots have shown a good increase in antibody response.

At least this shot will be easier to get (hopefully) in regards to scheduling

No kidding.

I'm wondering if they have any idea what happens when you get COVID and flu vaccines at the same time?

I'm curious to see how much decrease of antibodies are by groups. Aka much older folks versus middle aged...etc

As we move into a more vaccinated public, it seems to me that minimizing impact would target older and be less needed for younger folks with little decrease

Official Statement regarding booster: https://www.cdc.gov/media/releases/2021/s0818-covid-19-booster-shots.html

We are prepared to offer booster shots for all Americans beginning the week of September 20 and starting 8 months after an individual’s second dose. At that time, the individuals who were fully vaccinated earliest in the vaccination rollout, including many health care providers, nursing home residents, and other seniors, will likely be eligible for a booster. We would also begin efforts to deliver booster shots directly to residents of long-term care facilities at that time, given the distribution of vaccines to this population early in the vaccine rollout and the continued increased risk that COVID-19 poses to them.

that's interesting. Just yesterday I was reading that the only people recommended to get the booster shot would be 2.4 million 'immunocompromised" people. This seems to be a complete change.

In any event, I'll get a booster shot if one is offered. I'm not a "vaccine baby" like most of the MAGAts.

I think this was another misstep by the CDC. The message should've just skipped the immunocompromised and been released as the same. Maybe with mention of priority due to immune compromised.

it's not a surprise at all. they've been talking about boosters for quite awhile. it is nice that they've announced an actual plan now though.

Boosters are a no brainer. I figure this will be a yearly vaccination for awhile. The great news? Only Republicans will keep refusing and therefore, they will be the dominant demographic that keeps dying. Lol. Give it to the Democrats....
