COVID 19 as the first plague of seven

I was thinking about writing a story where the COVID-19 virus would actually be the first of the seven plagues of the book of Revelation from the Bible. This story would have some religious interpretation, which may be controversial.

Have stories been rejected based on religion? Would Kevin Smith’s script from the movie ‘Dogma’ be rejected for religious content?

I’ve already written three chapters, and have started on the fourth. The third chapter contains an exorcism on a Muslim Imam. After rereading and editing it, I became a bit concerned.

What should I do? Should I submit draft copy to see it may get rejected before I find an editor?

Thank You for an advice that you can give me.

It should get published.

Its reception? That's another matter.

Multichapter story with biblical theme featuring forcible religious conversion/exorcism on a porn site... I'll be polite and say I suspect you're limiting your readership. But what do I know? Put it out there and see; that's the only way you'll know.

I am not sure about forceful. I will say that the Imam knew he was possessed, but was unable to free himself. He was happy that he received the exorcism, and it was declared a greater jiihad.

Provided you don't politicize your religion you should be okay. Religion isn't contrary to any policy -the usual rules apply.

Not quite sure about your audience though.

Write what you want to write. Publish what you want to publish. But I suspect that you should prepare for a firestorm of yeas and nays. I think there could well be a better place to publish such a story - but what do I know?

I don't think anyone can evaluate the erotic potential on this description alone, so I don't think you ought to be discouraged by people who don't see it. Lit has tons of post-apocalyptic type stories, and that's basically what you've got with the seven plagues of Revelation, if you look at the conditions wrought, and there's plenty of room for erotic potential there.

There are also all sorts of stories in the fantasy category with mythological themes. They, too, find all sorts of ways to weave in the erotic.

I don't think there's any reason this can't be done well. It's a grand stage. I think you can present it that way. Maybe show that grand stage to the reader before you reveal with religious mythos, so they can appreciate the scope and drama before they go, "ewwww, religion," if that's what they might be inclined to do.

So long as your devout Muslim hero is cuckolded by his Christian wife with the obligatory black man you are assured of an audience.

Why make COVID19 the first? Perhaps some of the other evils of the world - TV comes to mind - may also make the list? If you get clever with your counting, perhaps it's the last one?

The seven plagues relate to seven specific types of things that happen in a specific order in an existing mythological/religious context.
