Cam drove up the gravel drive his GPS led him to. The house looked like something from Architectural Design. He was sure he had seen smaller hotels in France. And outbuildings, cottages, probably the original homes of the farm workers. A barn for the horses. White fencing everywhere. He parked his car, a non-descript SUV, being careful not to damage the Porches and Jaguars. The front door was open, and Jane, Jim's latest wife greeted him. Welcome to our humble abode. Titter. God this was going to be a long weekend. But Jim was a top client, never questioned his recommendations, and paid his invoices. Cam smiled.

"We have given you the west half of 'Oaks', that's the little green cottage you saw by the stream. We divided the cottages in two, so you will have plenty of privacy if you need to work. The WIFI password is EEFF759. The dogs have the run of the place, they are all quite friendly, once they get to know you."

"So, pulled pork on the back patio at 7. Open bar just inside the back door. Someone should be bringing fresh oysters soon. Lovely with the chilled Chablis."

Thankfully, Jane found another target, "Ta ta" Titter. God.

Cam got his weekend bag from the back of his car and made his way to the 'Oaks'. Showered, relaxed in the robe that was hanging by the towels and poured a straight bourbon from the bottle on the dresser. Sipped. It was good stuff. Then laid back on the bed, wondering how long he could put it off before having to smile his way through the guests.

Allison Redding stood in front of the full length mirror and looked at her reflection. She had tried on several dresses and this seemed to be the only one of the other four dresses that seemed 'modest' from what her mother had picked for her. It was red, which seemed to match the theme mother had selected. This party was mostly for her 'new' father, or in this case, Mr. James Holton, or Jim, as he insisted Allison call him.

The party was already in full swing by the time Allison had made it downstairs. The two big greyhounds that belonged to Jim immediately rushed to Allison as she entered the room. The dogs were Jim's but they favored Allison more because she was the only one that paid attention to them since coming home for the holidays from college.

She was about to pet one of them when her mother pulled her away, "Let's not touch those dirty dogs Allison, there are people I want you to meet!" She could already tell her mother had one too many drinks.

With a sigh, Allison had no choice but to be guided by her mother's hand as she introduced her to several of her new friends.

Finally, after a long while, Allison made her way over to the bar and got herself a drink. She was starting to regret coming here this weekend. She wondered if she should have gone to her real father's home to spend some quiet time there. But she had a feeling her company wasn't wanted by him anymore.

'Oh well' she thought as she took a sip of champagne. It wasn't too early for Allison to say her goodnight to her parents and try to get away.

Nursing her drink for a few more moments, Allison was lost in thought as she contemplated what to do next.

Cameron had had the oysters and the pulled pork and a couple of beer and small talked his way through part of the room. All the time Jane was drinking, too much, he steered a wide berth. Some of the other people were interesting, for a little while, but how long could you listen to how much oil a Porsche burns, normally. And how the instructor chastised at a track day. Or how well the children are doing at private school, since the psychologist got the new meds.

Having done his duty, Cam made his way to the bar for a nightcap. And, standing in the doorway, saw the most amazingly beautiful young woman at the bar. Long dark hair in loose curls to her waist, amazing dark brown eyes, full breasted, but not ponderous so, narrow waist, perfectly curved hips, skirt half way up her thighs showed gorgeous legs,

And at that moment realized she had caught him checking her out. Dropped his eyes immediately, but it was too late, when he looked back here eyes were still locked. He smiled. And went to the bar and ordered a double bourbon, straight up.

"Please excuse my rudeness, I do well know where your eyes are. My name is Cam, Cam Johnston, I do some consulting for our hosts, well Jim, really."

And kept his gaze locked on hers, thinking 'What on earth do you think you are doing Cam she is less than half your age.'

As she took a few small sips of her drink, Allison took in the crowd that had attended tonight's party. Some were staying for the weekend, others lived close enough to drive home tonight. Or at the very least, have a taxi come take them home should they need it.

That's when she saw him. An older man she was sure was alone because like her, he didn't seem to fit in with the crowd. He seemed important but yet, didn't. If that made sense. Allison watched him as he broke off from the crowd and made his way to the bar.

It was then, she caught him looking at her and she should have looked away but she couldn't. She needed to apologize for seeming rude but then, after he ordered his drink, he moved a little closer to her and introduced himself.

He mentioned Jim and Allison gave him a small smile, a knowing smile, "Ahh, well, Jim's my stepfather. I'm sure you're already familiar with my mother, the hostess." As if on cue, Allison's drunken laughter seemed to travel from the other side of the room toward them. With a flush to her cheeks, Allison sighed, "Yeah, I must apologize for mother, she loves her parties."

Setting her drink down, Allison smiled and brushed her hair from over her shoulder, "I'm so sorry, where are my manners? I'm Allison. Allison Redding. It's nice to meet you Cameron."

A trio started playing smooth jazz but the music was largely lost in the chatter in the room. Alcohol fueled chatter.

"Such a pretty name, Allison."

"Allison, would you like to get some air on the patio? It's stuffy in here, and a bit noisy for conversation."

Cam signaled the bartender to fill up her glass, and with a hand on her waist, ushered her out into the night air. There was loud talk and splashing coming from the general area of the pool, but that was a ways off. He found a short railing they could lean on, and stare into the dark.

”Such a beautiful evening. I hear tomorrow there will be a breakfast buffet by the pool, at 9. Somehow I doubt many of these people will be up that early."

Cam had noticed when he touched her to lead her out, that she did not flinch, but if anything seemed to like his hand there. They could still here the smooth jazz, but muffled.

"May I have this dance.?" He took her hand, and with his other hand on her lower back, danced with her to the slow beat. She glided across the flagstones with him, and he drew her just a little closer.

'You old fool,' he thought, 'she is probably imagining you are her boyfriend.' Contrasting with the bright lights inside, this area was dark enough no one would recognize them. He shuddered to think what might happen if Jane found him slow dancing with her daughter.
