I've stayed away from Country music for about 10 years. Hated it - kept to the classic rock, pop, and blues/jazz channels on the radio. For the past two weeks I've gone back to listening to Country every day at work.

George Strait can (and has)made me cry with that song "The Best Day of my Life"

And I can still hear Tanya Tucker, Loretta Lynn, George Jones singing the same songs they played 10 years ago. I'm a walkin' talkin' example of a born again country music fan. Dolly would be so proud! hehe

I'm glad for you but I gotta say I'd rather piss battery acid than listen to country music, and I'd bet most people in the UK would say the same, country just never really happened here.

Tn. Vixen, it may just be growing up in the south but I'm with you. That and most of today's country could pass for late 60's, early 70's rock and roll except for the banjo and steel guitar.

But I do like some of the older artist too. But right now, I think my favorite one to listen to is Aaron Tippon. Like him or not, he is what he wants to be and doesn't care what anyone else thinks. I respect that.

The whole thing about country vs. pop is ANNOYING!!!! Sure, alot of the songs today aren't very twagny, but I say a song's a song, like it or leave it. I did the nerdy thing and looked up pop in the dictionary. All Pop music is is Popular Music. BTW-I have to disagree with Aaron Tippin. With the exception of "Kiss This" he sucks. URG! What's with the song "Their Aint Nothin' Wrong With The Radio?" He sounds too much like the singer for "Crash Test Dummies." And the last 2 George S. songs,(Don't Make Me Come Over Their And Love You & "If You Can Do Anything Else) bug me. Not that I don't LOVE George.
