Country Music Awards Song Of The Year goes to...a black female artist who recorded it 35 years ago.

I've always loved the song - and her.

However, if this is your genre's best song of the year in 2023, your genre is, by anyone's measure, completely broken.

This was a rare case of my parting ways with my progressive allies. Way too many of them got all wound up over, in my opinion, nothing. No one is going to forget who Tracy Chapman is just because someone else had a hit with her song.

I can't forget someone I've never heard of, or a song I've never heard in a music style I never listen to.

To be fair...I have no issue with artists doing covers of other music. In fact, I think it is healthy. Hell, I have seen many covers be better than the original. Disturbs Sound of Silence for example. But...you can not honor a cover as a Song of the Year. That's so Trump

Agreed. Still, no one wrote anything new that was good enough to win?

Also, although I'm a fan of the new composition, the Disturbed cover vocals sound like they use waaaaay too much Auto-Tune - which is a shame because Draiman has a fantastic voice. (If it wasn't actually modulated, he needed to press to make it sound less so IMHO.)
