This is one of the big lies told in the USA, mostly purported by the rich and wealthy in industry and Govt to keep their status quo.

...that universal healthcare is evil, socialism, inefficient, will cost average individuals in the USA more or a lot more and...

...it will take away their choice or freedom to choose doctors.

It is the big lie!

You're the liar.

It does take away their choice and freedom to chose doctors.....that's what taking 60+% of their income does....forces all but the most elite into the public dumps.

60% of income? In which of the listed countries does it do that? Prove it.

PS. I can and do obtain private insurance that gives me access to a doctor of my choice and at a time of my choice if the NHS has a waiting list. The cost? A couple of pints of beer a month...

Prove your assumption? LOL

I never claimed those countries listed charges PRECICELY 60%,

But some nations with UHC do charge that much, and others far more such as
Venezuela, Honduras, Cuba and China.

Nice story about why Danes pay through the nose....
https://www.usnews.com/news/best-co...ark has one of the,45 percent in income taxes.

I'm sure if you looked into the tax burden in some of the Scandinavian nations you'd find they are substantially higher than say, Texas.

There is plenty of info out there on the insane taxes they pay in some of the more "progressive" nations ...you just have to be willing to put the "progressive" fantasies down long enough to look for it. :D

45% tax (not your 60%!) in Denmark and they are happy BECAUSE IT IS THEIR CHOICE!

Nobody pays 60% for health care. Every country on that list of universal health care pays a smaller part of their income per head of population than the US does - and for universal cover. The American system is insane!

Don't forget about total tax burden, you pay far more than your income taxes. ;)

100%....I find it funny you scream "it's their choice!!" but only in one direction.....collective authority to take peoples shit and tell them what to do.

When people say "Nope, I'd rather keep my money and freedom thanks." then suddenly it isn't and you get all bent the fuck out of shape about it.

The very notion of individual liberty....pissing off the islands across the pond to no fucking end since 1776.

Yea that's what happens when you get a bunch of do-gooder dipshits trying to fight a system designed to ratchet only in the direction of liberty and a union of states.....to do socialism like a unitary state.

Maybe the fucking retards in the DNC should stop. :D

The American system is insane!

Yes....On that we agree.

OK. WE agree on a couple of things.

1, People can choose by their democratic processes.

2. The US health care system is insane.

and possibly 3. No US politician of whatever party has a solution at state or federal level. There's too much money being made now.

In countries with a universal healthcare system like the UK, you are still able to have private healthcare if you wish; many do.

And even if you do, you pay far less than a typical US citizen with health insurance.

I don't see what all the fuss is about. I'm tempted to say that most Americans have an irrational fear of "universal health care" but that is just a lazy assumption made by outsiders looking in. I'd say most Americans recognise the merits of it but there are powerful forces at work representing the so called "1%" that make it a non-starter.

Its curious to me how a seemingly left wing mainstream media, that has grown so powerful, seems able to shape American society in all sorts of ways, causing those who call themselves conservatives to have their heads in a spin, yet can't seem to overcome right wing forces and influence America into implementing universal healthcare or meaningful gun control.

i really don't see the big fuss about the right to choose which doctor you want... if i'm sick, i'd far rather know i can go visit a doctor without thought of cost and, should i need a specialist, i'll be referred to one without me needing to worry about if they're a good doctor and having to search for a different one.

sure, in an ideal world this always pans out, but in reality we know some docs are better than others; in the uk, if we're unhappy with a doctor we can call for a second, even a third opinion or, as ogg says, go private. But in most cases the system works, with specialists knowing how to do their jobs (as most GPs do, too) and faith abides with the system. And, naturally, there's ALWAYS room for improvement. But when someone is sick, the last things they need to be worrying about is a) can i afford this? and b) how do i go about choosing a doctor that might be right for me?

ANY medical system needs to train their health workers thoroughly, and bad doctors weeded out (preferably before they hit the ground running, but during the course of their careers if necessary).

He is pathetic isnt he?

Yes. I really wish people would stop reacting to him. EVERYTHING he writes is bullshit. We all know this. Proving him wrong for the millionth time doesn't prove anything.

I hear it was a real race to see if it was going to be a Cuban-based pharmaceutical company that came up with the China virus cure first. Those guys have world class health care and it's free!

LOL

I have been wondering about the Russian China virus cure too and how Putties favorite daughter is doing.

The Australian Medicare system works. Not perfectly, but it works. And we have our choice of care and the option of private health care if you want it.
But damn is it expensive.

They are NOT cures. The vaccines prevent catching it.
you can't expect the willfully ignorant, who still call covid-19 'the china virus', to understand the basics, ogg. shame on you :cattail: after all, they follow in the footsteps of their great leader who declared the treatments thrown at him to alleviate his symptoms as 'cures' for covid. ignorance runs rife amongst his believers.

Sometimes I remember my brother's pain. When in the Royal Navy he spent most of his time trying to educate National Service boys who had learned nothing at school.

Trying to explain that when in Italy, Italians spoke Italian, not English, was almost impossible. 'Everyone we know speaks English. Why don't they?'

Yup, and that's nice and all...and if a US state decides to vote to provide a public option? Cool....rock on for them.

But it's still restrictive/oppressive because it cost a bunch of money....which I should be able to spend on the HC that I want and that is why more liberal folks don't want it.

I think blaming the 1% for not getting their way is just lefty conspiracy blaming the rich for all the worlds woes again.

It's not the 1%....it's the structure and function of our government.

Because we are a federalized union of states we have shit loads of checks to make sure the only way states can bully each other is if you have a 2/3 super majority of them all on the same page.

Social services and public health are STATE issues.

If we were a unitary state run by a totally unaccountable simple majority democracy as (D)'s seem to think we should be?? We would have had HC a long time ago.

Yea those pesky civil rights.....pissing the left off to no end since they got "woke" and decided they were all terrible and needed to go. :D

Most folks who want the nanny state to micromanage their lives don't.

You lot see no value in freedom, this is why you and all the other haters of individual liberty are un-American.

Why should you care? You don't have to pay for your health care so you have no fear of going bankrupt.

If lack of choice is un-American? So is VA. That is paid for by other taxpayers. They have no choice. They HAVE to fund you.

You're deluded. I don't know where you get your information but you are being misled or moronic. I suspect the latter. You're so brainwashed on the topic that you haven't the ability to examine this issue with an open mind.
How long have you lived in a country with universal health care?
