Until now I've used bravenet counter service on my webpage, but they have changed their free service, so that you only get text counters now.

So I was wondering if anybody know of a good webbased service that provides counters, with these options:

Hit or visit counter
Statistics
Ignore your own visit
multiple counters in one account
several counters to choose between.

I don't know of any services by name that have all those options, but you might want to start here.

I like the page counters I chose from on Krspy's page .It doesn't give statistics . It does the hit or visit thing . Mine was on Page Builder. Yahoo Geocities.

Offsite counters can be highly inaccurate due to the fact that the route between the site and the remote server can be down at any given point. Counters that rely on java/jscript code can be even more inaccurate because they add in the connection from the visitor to the counting server as a possible routing issue.

In measured tests between off site counters and comparisons between log files I've noted upwards of a 10% discrepancy on the part of the remote counter. 10% doesn't sound like a lot if you're only getting 100 visitors a month, but my site is pushing nearly 300K visitors monthly, that would mean I'd be miss counting nearly 30,000 visitors if I were to rely on an offsite counter.

A good hosting company will provide you with access to your log files, and a log analyzer. That is the most accurate source of traffic data for your site. If you're running your own domain and not relying on your log data, you're losing vital information.

If you're not running a commercial domain, then it doesn't really matter. In which case, this site has a large list of free hit counters you can use.
