Amid all the strife, stress, and worries. Amidst problems with the economy, swine flu, wars, terrorism, and politics, sometimes I find it good just to sit down and count the blessings in life.
For me, I find myself thankful that I have a roof over my head, food, a car that while old still runs, both my parents, and the opportunity to change my life for the better. I have regained the sight in my eye, although I'll have to wear a bifocal lens in my right eye
Granted I am single and as such often feel alone in the world, I would like a family of my own, a decent vehicle that I'm not constantly having to repair, and worried to all hell how I'm going to make it through college, but I try to remember what I have and be thankful for it.
These days I see people with no patience, wondering constantly "why me?" or "why isn't this already done!?". I offer you only what I've learned from experience, and that is that life is a long process, and often the best things take the longest time, and are worth the most waiting for. This was proven in the last year, when, after lots of people said a black man would never be in office, Obama easily won. I believe change will occur, for good or for bad, but one must roll with the punches, wait patiently for that which is worth waiting for, and remember that sometimes, you just need to take solace in the small things and the blessings of life.
