Corrections to a posted story?

What if --- I was so interested in getting my story finished in time for the Valentines contest - I didn't send it to an editor, and after a few days later I have seen a few things that need to be changed.
These items are minor -- but never the less take the reader out of his/her train of thought.
Can I go back and FIX THEM?

Should I make the fixes -- send in another post, and ask that the story be UPDATED?

I await an answer from someone who is informed.

Then go to I've re-edited my story and want to replace the posted version with my new edited one. How do I do this?
