I just received this in my wireless bill...

In light of the tragic events of September 11, 2001 AT&T Wireless, with the support of our billing vendor, Convergys, is waiving your airtime charges for wireless calls placed and received on that day.

Voice calls placed and received on that day will appear on your bill, without charge. Short Message Service (SMS) use will not appear on your bill, and you will not be charged for test messages that day.

Good show!

Bob, you use AT&T? Cool. I've got stock in it. Not that that means anything. LOL

I don't think corporate America shows its heart. These are business moves. Looks good for the company, period.

They are not mutually exclusive. There is no reason that an action need be relegated to the category of inconsequential just because it also benefits the donor.

Very few things are altuistic - many acts of charity are motivated by guilt, greed, and avarice.

People don't help old people across the street because it's "the right thing to do", they do it in the hopes that people will treat them and theirs with the same type of respect.

The fact that because of the tragedy two major cities in effect lost telephone service for several hours and one cellular company thought it would be a good business move to grant amnesty for activity that day was a good business move that helped everybody. My calls were free, and I'm left with the feeling that AT&T was willing to cut me some slack during a dark time, when my other cellular carriers didn't.

What about the companies that donated several million dollars to the Sept 11 fund? Does that qualify as having a heart? I say it does. Many contributed nothing at all.

I agree whole heartedly!

I'm generally impressed with the response of corporate America, especially those companies that may not have suffered personnel or property losses.

I'm also impressed with my fellow Americans - as a body politic people have made contributions (emotional, physical and financial) that regardless the motivation, made it a little easier on those affected.
