Who would have thought that Corn Flakes were sexy?

Dr. John, however, opted out of the venture, angered that his brother tampered with the healthful nature of the recipe by adding sugar to the mix. It should be noted that the elder Kellogg wasn't so much worried about obesity or bad teeth; as a staunch practitioner of sexual abstinence, he theorized that his corn flakes would suppress physical urges. Sugar, an aphrodisiac in his opinion, would undo that.

You didn't know this? I'm surprised. The nineteenth century was full of goofballs. Most of them were male, unfortunately, who were totally clueless about what women really wanted. I suspect that Mrs. Kellogg was perfectly happy with the arrangement. She got his money and probably as much on the side as she wanted.

Dr. John Harvey Kellogg also had an unconventional use for yogurt which to modern ears seems rather eccentric.

There is a 1993 novel, "The Road to Wellville" by T. Coraghessan Boyle, and a 1994 movie by the same title, directed by Alan Parker, starring Anthony Hopkins, Bridget Fonda, Matthew Broderick, John Cusack, Dana Carvey, Michael Lerner, Colm Meaney and John Neville.

Wikipedia calls it a historical fictionalization of the inventor of corn flakes. If you are a consumer of health food, or a believer in what today is called alternative medicine, you might enjoy this satire of American cults of hygiene, nutrition and colonic irrigation.

There's no way corn flakes are in any way sexy ... Cocoa Puffs on the other hand ... Woohoo! Woohoo! :D

Like Freud... who liked prescribed cocaine to most of his patients and believed that the female orgasm was a sign of immaturity

If orgasms are a sign of immaturity, then I guess I'm still a child

Yup. Of the three most influential thinkers of the nineteenth century, two of them were dead wrong. Not just a little off, not just misinformed, dead wrong. Freud and Marx are really the ultimate Fail. Only Darwin survives.
