Cops and prostitution

Ok, so, I'm trying to do a story/rp about a female cop (solo undercover, no backup) that is trying to bust a criminal and his organization. She takes a job in one of their strip joints. The cop is not going to get her evidence, but, in the process, she has sex with the customers and is incriminated herself (blackmail evidence). How does one go about "legally" entrapping a cop with prostitution? I want to make it seem at least real enough and not just make it up.

One of the challenges it seems to me is that no cop will work alone on such a case. Someone has to know she is going undercover, her superior, some partners.


If she is completely alone, not sure what the issue is??? Some of the girls in the club she befriends do sleep with the clients. At first she resists the idea.

1) She befriends one younger woman who is quite innocent and really in need of money. She is invited to a party but needs another woman to go with her. the cop accepts going as she wants to help out the woman, knowing she needs the money and also thinking it will legitimate her as a real stripper/prostitute to be able to get more on the crime boss.

2) One slow night after do her dance rounds she has a 15 minute smoke break before going back up on the main stage. She starts wandering around the back of the club to see if she spies anything suspicious and comes across one of the girls fucking a client. She can't help but watch. The boss notices her watching and sets something up. The next night on her break she once again finds a girl fucking, only this time she is seen by the girl who trash talks her into joining them.

3) What if it is her and her partner (also a female) who is on the payroll of the crime boss. They both go undercover in the strip club and the corrupt cop is told by the crime boss to entrap the good cop. She sleeps with clients for money and gets her partner to do it too, thinking it is part of what she needs to do to be seen as legit.

What I had in mind was that she is doing this "alone" because she is trying to prove herself. Make a name for herself and get fast promotions. (We see movies and TV shows all the time where a cop goes off alone without any backup.) I had the plan that she would dance in the club, find out about the VIP rooms. She is allowed to work them, but for her to be able to arrest people, she needs evidence, but the evidence she gets it would incriminate her and if she turned it in, she would be arrested for prostitution instead of strip joint. (Her Captain is the crime boss and knows she is doing this, but doesn't want to reveal himself until he has the evidence to blackmail her into staying as his new hooker.)

If the john she has sex with isn't a cop, then I don't think entrapment is an issue. If she takes money from him for sex, she's committed a crime, plain and simple. The john could be an informant, but that alone wouldn't make it entrapment. Plus, even if it was entrapment and it was a defense to a crime it still would end her career.

To be entrapment, usually the officer must induce the suspect to commit a crime that the suspect was not predisposed to commit. It would be easy to get around that in your scenario.

I think Yonder has the best idea so far. Entrapment is pretty hard and when undercover you can do a lot of stuff, even illegal if it means busting a case wide open.

The one way I can see making this different would be to have the boss turn her from good cop to corrupted cop, drugs, booze, sex and money are all a good motive but even then undercover officers are watched pretty closely, talking bugs cameras and even other undercovers to back them up.

I had a friend who worked as an undercover cop in New Orleans from what he told me is that he would hire a hooker, like some normal John then when they went to the hotel or something and started to get busy the normal police would bust in and 'arrest' them both of course the undercover would be let go after they made sure his identity was safe.

That should give you a little background information to help you figure this out.

Now if you want him to blackmail her, then have her siphon money off and instead of it going to evidence it ends up in her own personal account, that would be a big no-no
