Court Strikes Down Online Porn Law

Friday, March 7, 2003; 3:16 AM A federal appeals court has ruled that a law meant to safeguard children against Internet pornography is riddled with problems that make it "constitutionally infirm."

A three-judge panel of the 3rd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled Thursday that the Child Online Protection Act restricted free speech by barring Web page operators from posting information inappropriate for minors unless they limited the site to adults. The ruling upheld an injunction blocking the government from enforcing the law.

The court said that in practice, the law made it too difficult for adults to view material protected by the First Amendment, including many non-pornographic sites.

I believe this will be the end of the line for COPA at least. When the US Supreme Court sent it back down to the appeals court, a number of the justices stated that they saw serious first amendment rights issues that were not likely to hold up when addressed. Apparantly, they were right.

Good result for a while maybe, but it will never end as long as the PC brigade infiltrate governments to impose their will on the people.

You think you have it bad, a recent ruling by most education authorities in UK has banned parents taking photo's of their own children in school plays and the like.

The reason, paedophiles may get hold of the pictures and wank over them, (they didn't use those words or course, giggle), according to the let's ban everything PC brigade.

Now I hate 'Paedos'. I hate and detest 'child abuse' and I would never support erotic writings about paedo sex, but isn't some of this all going a bit over the top, can't take a piccie of your own kid, Jesus H fucking Christ..
