The talking heads seem to be quite reserved. There were no unusual communications between the pilot and ground control. The government is on top of things, locally and nationally. The President's news secretary is not ducking questions. The NTSB is on site at the crash. There is no consideration of a national shutdown. This crash seems to have been a tragic accident.

Life goes on. People will mourn their losses. A sudden death is equally devastating, whether by accident or otherwise. My heart goes out to the victims, no matter the cause.

When I first saw this...I said "omg..it's happening again!" but then I thought, just relax, see what this is all about. I just thank God those two schools were closed for the holiday. I don't think I could have stood that. There isn't that same sense of just-under-the surface panic on the news or from anyone else. That's good.

didn't it miss the schools?

that means that all the children were in the homes - where the plane hit.

:-(

No, no. I don't know how close any kids lived. Just that the schools were hit and the news quickly said that the schools were closed. For the holiday.

the schools WERE NOT HIT. They are being used as triage centers.

i just spoke with my ex....

she's a news junkie...she says the latest reports are that all the families in the affected neighborhood(s) have been accounted for. that's a good sign isn't it?

Thanks STP..that is good news. It just looks so terrible on tv. Shit...I hate this. But good to hear those schools weren't hit.
