Dumplings (from the sound dumpling they make falling into the garage disposal) n. A slimy, doughy monstrosity dropped atop a perfectly wonderful chicken and gravy dish. Thought to be a biscuit gone horribly wrong.

I'm sure that's the actual definition. I just haven't found the proper dictionary yet.

I love dumplings...maybe your dough is too moist when you start?

nope, i've tried them tons of different ways...some people make them thicker some make them thinner...either way just keep the nasy little buggers away from me

My chicken & dumplings are made from a very old Southern Georgia recipe - they're to die for. My grandmother taught me to make them. The key is to roll your dumplings out (very thin) ahead of time, and let them dry for a bit before you cook them.

Ask Shanglan. :D

I wonder if corn meal would be too course for dumplings. I always just made 'drop dumplings'. Roll them out eh? Hmmmmm......

I think that cornmeal would probably be too heavy for dumplings...
