I ain't got a Morphy Richards. I have a GE toaster. Will that be equally effective?

You need to tell us how to make toast and jam...

Your fans have gathered the equipment and ingredients and now we are waiting for the technique and tips you spanner

I'm afraid my dyslexia caused quite a mess. Also I started too early:

I got the bread, sliced it to make two nice slices, put on the butter and the jam, put it in the toaster, waited about five (5) minutes, and noticed a lot of smoke.

Then I put my fingers in both sides to clean out the mess, having forgotten to turn off the machine. As the sweet smell of cooking jam changed to something more like BBQ, I noticed that my hands were on fire.

I give up. I have to let my hands heal before next weekend, when I plan to repair my Saturn's automatic transmission -- in the garage -- after I move all the boxes filled with Christmas ornaments.

Any suggestions?
