Restaurants use this every 10 - 15 minutes (spread out through an hour long show) of every day, and we don't realize it's even happening.
Several techniques are used:
1: Paraphernalia - A decision making process based on subliminal suggestion
2: Presentation - Conditioning through visual cues, can also incorporate color responses (why yellow food coloring is in French Fry batter)
3: Musical Cues - Hidden tracks within restaurant music evoking emotional responses with subliminal suggestions
4: Social Cues - The theory a better experience will create a happier customer, and a happier customer will be a repeat customer is put to the test with friendly and fast service.
This practice is also the basis for what is commonly called "the player".
You could watch a Youtube series about these techniques for research.
In a story however (semi reality based), I would like to see another technique.
It's a combination of brainwashing (the removal of morals with a conditioning response), paraphernalia, and social cues (musical cues can also be added).
This technique does not remove morals, but it alters them over time like paraphernalia.
Social cues would be important in this process to guide the vulnerable to the desired decision, however once at that point, it is the choice of that person to do it or not.
The only influence that takes place is up until that point.
It's like that game Truth Or Dare.
If the person isn't primed with the possibility of liking whatever it is, it probably won't be done.
The initial technique could be a type of hypnotism (unconscious conditioning), but this is not continued, it's only to start the process (includes implantation of fantasies which could grow into desires).
Normally in reality mind control stories such as MK-Ultra (US Government used forced child labor), I'd say that it's unethical or amoral, but my way is the very nature of the thinking process, so it is very moral, but unethical in certain situations.
This process was used during a series of hypnotherapy sessions.
The hypnotist was so attracted to this woman, he forgot to take away the suggestion.
When he saw what happened, he was so horny, he didn't lift this sexual spell, and was eventually caught by the Feds in a sting operation.
