Contest Claptrap

I think I was too much of a dillweed stem for submitting a bad non-erotic story at midnight and it borders on the realm of not a V-day story. I tried to be creative and in the end, I submitted a story I hated. It's supposed to be about love for heavens sake. I was trying to be clever with my love, taking an approach no one would ever take and it ended up a pile of steaming processed veggies.

Have you guys ever submitted just because you wrote it? I think sometimes I just want to see the critique and often my stories never get any unless it is in a contest. The last few stories and poems received a hand's worth of votes, whilst the holiday stories are still growing in the triple digits.

Just curious to hear your responses.

Are people still voting on the Val. Day contest? I had 52 votes on my story rather early, and four PC but nothing for a long time. I don't think I have had any votes at all, good or bad, all this month.

I was referring to my contest entry. I have gotten over 50 votes on a story that posted yesterday but none on my contest entry for a week.



Edited to add: This is about four hours later and I have gotten one more vote.

Guilty. If I have finished with a story I'll submit it.

Some of my early ones are bad because I was still learning (and I still am. Next class on Tuesday).

My recent stinkers are Bagged at the Opera and Beach Protest. Both were written at speed and it shows.

But if I didn't write the occasional bad one then the good ones wouldn't look so good.

My Valentine stories seem to have stalled but The Giant Squid was briefly the highest rated Humor and Satire before it was bombed.

More stinkers will happen. I hope that the better ones will improve but sometimes the story is a bad idea from start to finish. Maybe sometime I'll get round to deleting the worst.

Hmmmmmmm

All of my stories are crap, I just posted them because I wrote them, I don't really give a toss what people think of them.
Probably why I haven't checked on any of my scores for months.

As a lot of people on here know by now, I write in my own style, one that suits me, fuck the reader, if they aint bright enough to understand, it's they who should go back to school not me.

I'm never going to write for profit, so I'm never going to bother splashing out on lessons, no point is there?

I'm not even going to bother with a copy of that stupid book everyone quotes, what is it "Sprocket and Slivester" or some such, foreign thing I'll be bound anyway.

Pop, I read your stories and I don't agree that they're all crap. Some are shite, others are wank. No, seriously: I think that you write really good dialog: It reads like you had a tape recorder running.

I had a second story in the works for the Valentine’s contest, so I rushed it through to make the deadline and ended up posting it before it was ready. As soon as it was up I knew it was a mistake, and I’ve asked Laurel to pull it.

Post a story simply because I wrote it? Oh yes. That is all I ever do, I don't know any other way.
I tried to write some stories with erotic, (or so I thought) leanings.
They all do poorly and get me mean feedback.
Now I write for me, it feels good and takes up time, and it is almost like a therapy.
I have decided to let those that enjoy, enjoy, those that don't, so be it.
Easy that way.

Writing keeps the walls off my mind and allows me to go on.

Thanks for all your replys

It's nice to see some of you submit and don't care. I don't generally read other stories unless it fits into one of my weird fetishes or my Challenge Club group. I should read more because I keep hearing the usual people complemented over and over again. Sometimes I use my free time to just hammer something out, quit and start again and never have time left for reading. I enjoy writing more than reading anyway. I am sure most of you feel the same on that.

I don't think I posted my V-Day story in time because it still is pending since Thursday night. Probably better off that way people won't be as disgusted as I was.
