Contest and 50 votes

Forgive me if this is already asked out there? Can I use any story that I have written that has had 50 votes for a contest? Where would the votes be listed? Is this the number like 3.8/67? Would 67 be the amount of votes? If so, where do I submit that story for a contest or does it get picked up in a contest randomly when it hits 50 votes for competing? Thanks.

I need some help please in searching for a story that was shown as a in the top 3 of the last Contest...I guess halloween. The story was about 3 female adventures, a magic user, a thief/lock picker and they meet a large female fighter who helped them defeat a group of bad guys. I the story was part of a larger series. I am unable to search past contest top three winners and was hoping my short description would ring some bells with the audience. If you could tell me the series author or the story title I would appreciate it!
