i was thinking it'd be fun to share some our favorite contemporary artists and their work....most of them out there have websites that we can let others know about....and we all have favorites...perhaps artists in our area.....artists with regional reputations that aren't well-known yet...some that are....just cool eye candy....ya know....

i've already posted pieces from several of my favorite artists here and and there on the board....james michalopoulos.....linus moke....but if ya clicked the thread...you're bound to have a favorite or two or three as well....that you can share....;)

it's so cool to be able to access art on the web that you'd never be exposed to otherwise....it's just a virtual museum out there....

maybe just share a pic or two....with a url link to their site....

Is contemporary a...

style of music like pop (which is an abreviated form of popular but popular music's sound need not actually be popular. Pop music and dance music are the same to me) or do you just mean current artists?

I'm a hip hop aficianado...I think Nas, Eminem and Aesop Rock will be studied in Universities of the future...

"Tell me who you chill with and I'll tell you who you are/I'll walk a mile with a leash attached to your freakshow seminar...." Aesop Rock

Okay...

you obviously mean art as in painting....hmm....I'm going to look pretty stupid. Well, I don't know of follow any contemporary artists. Visual art was never a big interest of mine. Salavador Dali and Picasso are my favorite artists...

I like Eminem. I think Q-Tip's last record is highly underrated. Nas and all the Fugees folks are cool in my book.

Visually, I really like David Hockney, Judith Schecter, and Asian pop artists like Yoshitomo Nara and Takeshi Murakami.

Elemore Morgan, Jr.

this guy is just cool....taught art most of his professional life....after he retired he started hitting the rice fields in south louisiana....painting.....and painting.....his horizons are incredible....he captures the beauty of a louisiana countryside...the colors....the incredible sky....

Max Muhlberger has a depth of color that is so intense and soulful it makes my chakras dance.

I appreciate detail, layered meanings, pictures within pictures.

Bev Doolittle is my favorite contemporary artist. "Two Indian Horses" is one of my favorites, but this image doesn't do it justice, at least not on my hardware & internet connection.Maybe it's the odd shape & size of the original.

Even so, you can get the flavor of some of her other works on this page:
