A woman gets out of a relationship, the last of a string of men from her workplace who allow their jobs to severely inflate their egos. She tries to make a conscious effort to pick 'em better, but this is what always happens. "Just once I want to be with a guy that isn't more into himself than me."
Walking outside of condo project, her friend jokingly proposes that she should just date a construction worker. How full of themselves could they be? The woman laughs it off at first the idea is fixed in her mind. She decides to go for it, picking up the guy.
He's a good looking and a good humoured guy, but not sharpest tool in the box. He also was a jock in highschool, and still does sports in his offtime. He's a total meathead, she tells her friend, but can't argue with that body. So she goes about just "showing him off" whenever their out together.
As an endgame to all, ultimately her motives are dubious, and she's really only stringing him along for the fun...which she (eventually) recognizes. When it comes down to it, the relationship lacks any substance, just like all her other ones.
(Oh, and to all the construction and trades people reading: this isn't a commentary on you fine folks. )
