constant logouts

I'm logged in on the storyside, to my Author's age. I log in to the Forums list page and yes, I know the stories and forums run under different engines. But moving to any forum, or selecting any thread, LIT wants another login. Damn annoying, to be logged out with every page transition.

And now I'm staying logged-in but I am not allowed to edit my posts. What?!?!?

Now I'm back to being logged-out again, and I still can't edit my posts. Dang.

If you're talking about in this particular forum section, you've never been able to edit posts here. You shouldn't have a problem with that elsewhere.

Mine logs out all the time now as well. Started when I had to login to the site for some reason after not logging out for quite some time. Haven't been able to keep my forum login active since. It lasts a few minutes at best.

Yes, apparently something has changed recently with this forum and the log-in permissions. You will need to log in every time you visit the forum page now. The stories site will let you stay logged in indefinitely, but once you exit the forums side it will automatically log you out. I am not sure why this changed, perhaps some security thing?

I'm having the same problem. I logged into the Authors' Hangout and after about half an hour, I was automatically logged out. Frustrating to say the least.

I have this problem as well. Generally it happens when I’m attempting to write a response to an RP - I type it all out, go to post and find out it’s logged me out and I have to do it all over again. I’m at least smart enough to realize that I have to cut/copy before I go to Preview or Post the response now in the SRP boards because it happened every single time and I’d paid the price once or twice.

This only happens to me when I attempt to use it on my laptop/computer - never on my phone; I have no issues ever being logged out when I go the mobile route. Unfortunately it’s harder to come up with a novel-length RP response on my phone, so the computer used to be more convenient. Now it’s just any annoyance, really.

This one is going to be difficult to track down, because what triggers it is mysterious. In the post above, someone has no problem on their phone, but the desktop does it.

I actually have three pen names, and this is the only one that logs me out. The other two work fine. This one was working for the longest time when other people were reporting the issue as well. I had previously logged out and logged back into this pen name without a problem since people started reporting this issue, prior to a couple of weeks ago.

Hadn't thought to check on my phone, but now that someone mentioned it, I'll see if that remains logged in once my desktop login goes poof on me.

I had this problem for ages, but the following solution worked for me (apologies to whoever suggested it to me, I can't remember their name).

When you type in the URL, make sure you log in to the https version of the site. Login and then bookmark the page. Only use that link to access the site. That way you shouldn’t be logged out. This has worked for me ever since.

Can confirm that my login on mobile stays active, even though it won't on desktop. Using Chrome on both.

One other thing I noticed: As mentioned, I will need to log in nearly every time I visit the forums now. It used to leave me logged in all the time but not anymore. But if I am logged out, and navigate to the boards as "Welcome, Guest" I can see everyone's avatar pictures. Once I log in as me though, all those avatar pics go away and are no longer visible. This is odd.

I am on Chrome at the moment, as using Internet Explorer seems to cause a whole different set of issues (mostly on the story search side.)

Check your settings once logged in and make sure you didn't disable avatars at some point and forgot about it.

Another author with whom I've been corresponding says she is able to see posts on the forums but has been unable to log into any of the forums to post a response or add a thread.

I've suggested several things to try, but none have helped. She is running Windows 10 and using Firefox as her browser.

There's a obvious problem going on, seeing so many complaints revolving around a similar issue.

Further review, if visiting the forum (while logged in) via the home page proper via Bulletin Board link, I'm logged in here and remain so...

If visiting the forum via the /stories page link (which has a different destination url to the forum), I'm not logged in and log out after ten min or so of inactivity...
