Hi & good afternoon!

While we're still in the process of putting together the final voting round of the 2000 Literotica Author Awards (which should be up by the end of the week), we're also preparing for next year's Awards. Starting this month, the story in each category submitted during the month that receives the highest vote totals during that month will automatically be a nominee in the 2001 Author Awards for that category. At the end of the year, we will have 12 nominees for each category, all chosen by you, the readers.

For example, if a story submitted in February to the Erotic Couplings category garners higher votes than any other Erotic Couplings story submitted in February, it will become February's nominee.

So let's have a round of applause for January's Nominees!

That's a good idea...

a question

Suppose for example, - Built For One Thing Ch. 2 / G. H Lawrence, is once again the highest during the year. Does it get two nominations or do you drop down to the next highest until you find one that hasn't been nominated in that group yet?

As far as I can say, WriterDom, the only stories eligible in a given month are stories that are submitted during that month. "Built for one thing 2" is only eligible to win the January Award... The February Award goes to a story that was submitted in February...

Right Laurel...?

CONGRATULATIONS!!!

A huge congratulations to all the winners or nominees for a job well done! You are all fantastic!!!

Hey, don't I get nominated for something...you know like "Biggest Pain In the Ass on the Board" or "Most Curious" or Most Likely to Create a Monster" LOL  Ok..I'm reaching!!!

What a great idea! This way the excellent stories submitted at the beginning of the year aren't forgotten about when it comes time for the nominations. Congratulations to the January winners!! :)

Right Laurel...?

In the words of the great Ed McMahon, You Are Correct, Sir.

It would be nice if something could be done to give new poems more exposure. Either included in the new story section, or a new poetry section. It's not easy to get 10 votes to be put on the top list. The last poem I can find that did make the list was posted over a month ago.

Hmm...a New Poetry page! Brilliant...don't know why I didn't think of that sooner (other than the fact that I'm not brilliant... :) ) I'll pass that along to our wacky programmer and he'll put that on his list of things to do...

I'd like to thank the Academy...

Thank you to all the folks out there who read my story and helped me earn this most august nomination. As I read down the list I was hoping, hoping, that one of my stories would be picked, and then there it was! Pretty cool, I must say.

So, there's one story picked each month, and then a vote at the end of the year? I'm just making sure I have all this straight in my head, so I know when to start bribing judges and spreading malicious rumors about the other nominees.

Instead of getting to January and voting among 12 stories it would be more fun to let it go 12 weeks and each week vote one story off Literotica. The ratings would be great ;)

Uhhm - but ....

that means quite simply that a story submitted .. say on the 27th of a month is not likely to make any awards even if maybe it hits the votes big time, simply because the month in which it was submitted is not giving it a lot of time to get voted for ... maybe I didn't get the idea ... just a ... blonde thought ...

Exactly what I thought. A story posted with just a couple days to go in the month - based on the way I read what's been described, probably won't get enough votes to be considered AND would be ineligible the next month.

Here is a suggestion - perhaps any story posted in a month that doesn't receive the minimum 10 votes should be eligible the following month?)

Also - conversely - a story posted with a week to go in the month has a good change of getting at least the 10 votes it needs BUT will not have many more votes than that, which would help level set the story (ie - the more votes a story gets the more reflective it is of the general consensus - simple statistics).

Not sure if any of this is good, bad or otherwise. Just my observations.

Laurel.....I feel bad for posting this here.....

But.....I had sent you an email to change my sig line..about a week ago....did you get it?

Sorry for postin this here......

Congrats to all the nominees.....I want acceptance speeches.

Laurel,
I think this is a great idea! It will allow for at least twelve different selections to be made <<hopefully>> which should increase the gene pool.

Congrats to all.

Kerrie, you're welcome. I thought Oedipus Revisited was hilarious.

Thanks for the nomination, even if I sort of feel it was by default. How many "How To" stories are even posted? LOL.
