Hey all!

On the 15th of every month, we tally up the votes from stories submitted during the previous month. The story in each category with the best voting score compared to all other stories submitted that month is automatically eligible for the 2003 Literotica Author Awards voting.

At the end of the year, we will have 12 nominees in each category. The 4 stories in each category with the best voting scores at the end of the year will go on to the final voting. One will be selected in each category as the top story for 2003.

Congratulations to the authors below, whose stories were ranked top in their category for the month. These are February's eligible works.

Erotic Poetry - Mirror / VixenLaFlamme
Illustrated Poetry - slut / SavgeWolf
Non-Erotic Poetry - The Burning Bush / Blue Dolphin
Poetry With Audio - none submitted in February

HUH?? Well, at least I've heard of Blue Dolphin.

Must people always cheat, or rely on friends who do not understand good writing? - To paraphrase Albert, "I agree that in a democracy the vote of one moron should be equal to the vote of one genius. What I have trouble with is that the vote of two morons has more weight than the vote of one genius.

Blue Dolphin

has been around for quite a while--certainly since before I came here--and of late has been writing some terrific stuff. The poem that won, The Burning Bush, is cynical and aware and very good. Check it out. :)

Blue Dolphin's poem is good and I do like it.

Rybka, those of us who hang out on this board and write and attempt to improve our skills as poets have to realize that some of us pay a price sometimes when it comes to the popularity of our poems. I know we are all capable of writing stimulating smut that passes as poetry. But do we want to do that just to win an award or hit the top list? Of course, there are good poets and poetry that get recognition but face it, it's hard to compete with the easy "pornetry" that's pumped out and spewed all over literotica.

Feb's Flubs

I have read them all. The illustrated poem is junk and full of grammatical errors.

The "erotic poem" is trite and average at best.

Blue Dolphin's poem is the best of the three, but best of the month? C'mon now! - We have idiots of little taste and friends-there-of voting!
This is a sham!

Awww c'mon fishie

I loved BD's poem--and we all know how the voting thing goes. I just had Everland knocked from number 1 to number 65 in the space of two votes. That's two 1's from a couple of friends of friends no doubt. But so what--I know I wrote a good poem. :)

I agree with everything you say. I won't write crap for the masses (I only write it for myself.), but I object to the votes of tasteless morons and their cronies outweighing those of more refined readers! - Plus the "Vote" program was written by an idiot and demonstrates it daily!

Today is March 17th, and i have only just seen this thread.
I had no idea it existed, or my poem was here.
I do not even know the criteria for "Poem of the month"
in fact
didnt even know there was one.

There has been no collusion
no friends voting friends
I am finding it difficult to restrain myself here.
So I will keep quiet

Blue, sweetie you wrote a terrific poem and you have nothing to defend, as I'm sure you realize. We've been pals a long time, and indeed you were the one who encouraged me to post here so I'm well aware of your stance on this subject--you have been vocally anti-collusion in voting whenever the issue comes up.

I also know GE and many of your friends and can't think of anyone who would vote you high marks for any reason other than loving the poem. Nonetheless, I firmly believe this does occur with lots of writers here--whether they know their friends do it or not, I have no idea.

This is why I personally place value in feedback over votes. Still the bottom line here is that you, IMHO, wrote a poem well deserving of an award--and you know I believe that, having said it to you before the poem was even posted. I say forget this quibbling and enjoy your win!:)

I mean no personal attack on Blue Dolphin. I have read several of his poems and really liked them. However I still feel that The Burning Bush is not the best poem posted in Feb. and I don't believe it is the best that Blue Dolphin has written although I don't know when the other's were submitted. :rose:

Re: the "contest", how many of you even get 10 votes in a month? And how many of the votes you do get ever last a month? (The most I ever got was 9 votes within a few days for one of the challenge poems. It was down to 1 when last I looked.) We all know that the hit rate goes way down as the poem ages unless it hits the charts near the top (and then it usually gets attacked). :(

I guess my main peeve is that there even is a contest, when the valuation system is so flawed! I have nothing against any of the poets. I just don't think their chosen poems were the best I read last month.

Enough said! I will go hide under a log until Judo wins for this month (and she had better!) ;)

Well if she doesn't give me time to get out of the water and head for the hills first! ;) :rose:
