Confusing story rejection

You could just add the line: "Even though Harriet looked and acted like she was twelve, she have already passed her eighteenth birthday with a drunken partry and a gang bang by the entire varsity football team." :D

In one of the first stories I submitted, I included a gitl who was 16. :) I said something like "Her parents had pushed her into marriage with a deacon of the church when she was just 16, as early as they could legally do so." I described her deflowering a week later, and it was the least erotic sex scene I have ever written. It was accepted. :D After all, she was married to the man. Later I edited it and resubmitted it and it got rejected because of the underage character. I changed her age to 18 but it really took something out of the story that she was not 16 anymore.

You're right, of course...

I get so tired of seeing sex with an under-18 person described as pedophilia. Pedophilia, for the umpty-umpth time, is a preference for pre-pubescent people, i.e., real honestoGod children who have not reached puberty.

You're right, of course. However, if this site did allow under-18 stories, the word that the frothing-mouthed religious-right demagogues would use would be 'paedophiles' (or, in your part of the world 'pedophiles' ); and thats the word the media would use as well. Which is nonsense, and moral panic, and stupidity. And it's such stupidity that we cannot even have a sensible public discussion about the issues around appropriate ages for sexuality.

I could not publish an honest account of my own first sexual experiences on this site, and I'd be surprised if many people could. But the rules are the rules, and I understand why they're the rules.

Shame we can't have a UK branch of Literotica, the legal age is 16 in Britain.

I'm still waiting to get my first stories accepted/rejected. The more people talk about their submissions getting rejected, the more nervous I'm getting.
I don't think you need to worry. My stories have been accepted every time except once, and I don't even have English as a first language.
The one that got rejected included a bestiality scene, which is of course a no-go on Lit.
The approval process always seems to take forever - it's so hard to be patient...

But if we did, all US internet users logging into the UK site could be prosecuted as pedophiles.

The UK legal age for consent is 16 but we know that the age sexual experimentation starts is much younger.

We have to be very careful about age in our stories because there are some very disturbed people out there who would spend large sums of money to close us down, if they could. The enemies are at the gate.

It's sad really, isn't it? That people seem to be unable to use basic common sense these days and rely on the letter of the law to the point of absurdity sometimes.
Oh well, c'est la vie. They're both pending again. Still.

I've heard this complaint before. It's funny when you read stories that are written so badly (i.e. run-on sentences, paragraphs with 20-30 sentences, grammar & puncuation errors, etc...) that you wonder if they have any standards at all. I try to take a deep breath and not get offended. It has to be tough to run a site this big and have a real life on top of it.
Could those be old stories, accepted back when the site first began?

Annoying.

If you come across a story that's written in seriously poor style, is there any way of bringing it to the editors/owners attention?
I guess it's a real wank to say something like "it's poorly written and lowering the standard here"?
But there are some stories I've seen that I just can't wade through.
I wish we could! I've read stuff that is simply offensive to the eyes...

It seems like the only ones you can get rid of are the "underage" and "beastiality" stories.

I ran across some woman on Lit who had a couple of stories about a horse several years ago. I see they are gone now. Rather well written though :(

Like Crim and I said, you can report them using the Report this story feature. It isn't only for underage or bestiality.

ETA screen print to illustrate what we have been saying.

That reminds me, where's Shang? I haven't seen him around in ages.

Oh FFS.

I've had both stories rejected again. The supposedly underage one is fine, I will put a disclaimer on it and re-submit it and that's fine. The other one though, the one with the 'punctuation outside the quotation marks,' has been rejected for the same reason again. I went through the whole thing last time and found one mistake, rectified it and re-submitted and I do not know what is still wrong with it. Please please can someone have a quick look at it for me and see if there's something I missed?

If it's any comfort I persistently get stories thrown back at me for punctuation outside quotation marks - so often that I've now written a little script to fix it, because I'm obviously blind to it when I proof-read!

I'd be more than happy to run my script over your piece.

I will PM to you both.
Many thanks and let me know if I can repay the favour

Edited to say:- Wow- are you working together? I got your PMs back within 2 minutes of each other!

Oh thats just great. I try and try so hard to be good with the little marks. I do really. I'm sure now my story is going to be rejected. I can't believe it though. Some of the stuff that made it through is so bad you can't read it. Is someone actually reading this stuff or is a machine doing most of the reading?

God knows, but I always seem to get the one human being who's a total Grammar-Nazi.

Not that I have any problems with perfect grammar- it's my holy grail, but it's just unfair that it's not evenly applied.

They rejected one of mine back in 2003 for the same reason, Luv. Since then, I've seen it posted in other stories. The editor is being anal
