Probably by telling the truth from the beginning. WHo knows, maybe the cops would have kept it under wraps if he had. Either way, his was a tough spot to be in.

No. Other than he probably wanted things to cool off a bit, which I think they have.

I personally, having to guess, think he did not kill her, if that is what you mean, but I am not sure I believe everything he said. Innocent until proven guilty, though.
