I'd like to participate in a concubine story. One where the concubines start at different levels and work their way up to a 3rd or 4th level. Is anyone interested?

If you get any real responses, I have done a lot of research into the history of this, and can let you have copies if you want. Just PM me.

<shameless plug> Of course if you want to know how the Emir of Kobekistan selected the gold silk clad Special Concubines in a competition open only to virgins, read my novel Anniversary Delights. </shameless plug>

levels of concubines

Yes, a first level concubine was allowed to perform only very specific activities. A fourth level had much more freedom. These rules of conduct were established to prevent too many contenders to the throne. Just who enforced these rules, or what the consequence were when violated, I don't know.

That is the extent of my knowledge. Can anyone provide more information?

Oh good greif and you want to start up a story about concubines?

The rules were set up the person in charge, generally the king or owner of the estate since the wealthy could and often did have concubines. As for who enforced these rules, well gee I would imagine the palace guards. :p

Now as for what happened to transgressors well that rather depended on what exactly they did. In many areas of the middle east touching a man's daughter was a really bad idea, the family if they caught the toucher would cut off his dick. A peeping tom would lose an eye caught at it again lose the other eye. A theif loses a hand, caught again off with the other hand. More serious offenses are death.

So say screwing the sheiks favored concubine would most likely be a hanging. Getting one of them pregnant, probably means your dick is cut off. Sleeping with his wife is drawn and quartered though so at least it's better to screw his concubines.

I don't know anything about concubines, but I know the penalty for bigamy: two wives!!

What about Roman concubinage? In the Late Empire, there were a lot of men, including Augustine, I might add, who had concubines. Of course, Augustine gave up his....at least officially. ;) He is, after all, the one who prayed that his God would wait on giving him chastity.

In any case, it was quite common for many priests and bishops, not to mention others in the Late Empire, to have concubines and mistresses. Reportedly, they included Athanasius of Alexandria, the champion of the doctrine of the Trinity. Not sure if that it is, but it is an interesting tale. Certainly, plenty of Emperors had them, most notably Commodus, who had 300 concubines and 300 male lovers, not counting his wife, the Empress Crispina.

Another difference between the US and UK. Here in the UK the penalty is two mothers-in-law. (Or should that be mother-in-laws?)
