just watched it on TV and really enjoyed it in a low budget kinda way.

Isn't it time they made another ?

Yeah I know it's kiinda low rent and cheesy but I like it a lot more than some films that have cost ten times as much to make.

I thought all the Conan movies were pretty good.

Red Sonja kicked ass too.....

And don't forget the first and second "Beastmaster" films....the others were pants but the first two were good.

I don't think they would be the same if they made new ones. Nothing can compare to the late 70's and early 80's in filming low budget movies.

For the beastmasters, I loved the 1st one. The others... sucked.... ass.... bad....

Yeah if they made them now they'd just choke em full of FX and no story.

Oh yes.. loved the Beastmaster movies... and what was the on..Kull or Krull.. something like that. And the one where the guy that played Bull on Night Court played some kind of demon...what was the name of that?

I liked Conan too but haven't seen the Beastmaster series. What were they about? Could I find it on video? Was Arnold in them?

Yes, you can find them on video. They are about a guy (played by Marc Singer) that has can control animals. He travels around with a tiger, a hawk (or falcon..not sure now) and a pair of ferrets. They are just good clean fluff movies:)

Conan....ooooooo.....

The first one was the best, but the rest weren't bad at all.

The soundtrack to the first movie is great

But my all time favourite sword-and-sorcery-swashbuckling-type movie is...

Excalibur!!!!

Good movie. Is the snake dude James Earl Jones (a.k.a. Darth Vader?) I havn't seen Conan since the 80's, and I saw it as a kid with my parents at the drive in. I liked it.

But what I am really excited about is that Edina and Pats are coming back to the US this November on Comedy Central. I don't care what anyone says, sweetie darling, their fabulous.

I loved the first one... watched it every freakin saturday for months... still do when it's on. and it's not a tiger... at least, it's not supposed to be, it's supposed to be a black panther.

what's up with the television series?

conan... right up there with clash ofthe titans... wonderfully cheesy movies

i enjoyed the Conan movies

i thought they were great.
i just wish they would have made a 3rd one and seen Conan get his kingdom back and his girlfriend and wizard friends would be there with him.
it just seems like there is something missing after the second one was done.

The Riddle of Steel & Silver nitrate...

King Kull with Kevin Sorbo of "Hercules" was the unofficial 3rd Conan movie in some ways. He was being sprung foward as a low-budget Arnold, and the idea of barbarian king smacks of the later books by L. Sprague de Camp (who was the technical advisor on the first movie) but for the Nintendo generation.

I think it did poorly because it had no real substance or heroic sweep. The first Conan movie was done with the intention of showing a new mythos of the past, a sword & sandal western. Conan goes metting out justice, having adventures, and doing all the thins men used to do. It's not a bad thing to be considerate, but if you read Roebert E. Howard's books about Conan, it sounds like the life of people in the small Texas town he lived in when he wrote this character. Kull just goes...to get a crown...bite the magic pills...have a cute chick show up...Beep, bloop, boop

I love the first movie. I love the books, comics and such as done by Marvel comics. Conan is one of the greatest characters written. No one could have played him better than Arnold...period! Rmors have been circulating that there's a remake to be made on the movie. Obviously substance still has a chance but I hope they leave this classic movie alone.

Enjoy.

:D

Don't forget Grace Jones and that sexy little fur tail she wore in the 2nd movie. Scary but sexy. I love a woman that takes care of business.

One of my favorite things about those Conan movies, especially the first one, is how badly Arnold acts. He really didn't have the hang of it yet, and it's such fun for me to watch it either of two ways -- either just sitting there enjoying the adventure and spectacle and turning off the super-critical part of my brain, or watching it specifically for the silly little details (like those very goofy strange noises Arnold makes to indicate that he's being strangled -- wish I could find a way to spell those sounds out for you). Such fun.

You should see the one where they go to a Marlyn Manson concert and get all dressed up in black with the MM make up on.

There is a connection between Conan and Kull. Both characters were created by Robert E. Howard, and Kull was a distant ancestor of Conan.
