Computer Update..

Ok.. as of 10pm PST tonight, i will be reformatting my piece of shit computer.

I had it fixed and after shutting down and or restarting it for a few days, it has decided to start it's shit one more time (only worse now).

I spent the last two days on a web page working with some really nice tech guys. They are as stumped as I am. I spent 5 hours this morning on the phone, long distance, with my cousin. Who is a Hewlett Packard employee. We went step by step thru my computer and found that i have some serious driver issues. After trying to fix them manually, to no avail, he suggested what i feared the whole time. REFORMAT!!!!!!! My god that word puts fear in me. Anyway, he told me how to save all the info I need. And we are talking once again at 10 pm to do the reformat.

To the people I thanked before. Thank you all so much for your help. It did help.. even if my computer isn't fixed.

So.. I have less than 5 hours on here tonight.. then I will attempt to be back on tomorrow.

I hate my moody, self-absorbed computer. Damn thing has no idea how close it is to finding itself sitting beside my trash, waiting for the journey to the landfill.

I DIDN'T HAVE TO REFORMAT!!

I just spent all day.. uninstalling everything but the basics on my computer, backing up all files i needed, and emailing all of my saved emails to an online email account.

I decided to go to the HP website troubleshooting (thinking maybe for some reason my cousin had missed something, as he was home and didn't have the capability of accessing any kind of help, but what is in his head)

So anyway, i went through a 15 step troubleshooting.. and low and behold the last step actually figured out what my problem was. So.. until tomorrow (today, since it's after midnight) my computer is fixed..I'll probably get up in the morning and it won't work..

I'm off to bed.. so night all..

keep your fingers crossed that my trials and tribulations of computing is over..

Next time it acts up just say in a low and menacing voice, "I swear to God if you don't get your act together right fucking now, you are getting a first generation Celeron processor, Cambodian RAM and as many old Packard Bell parts as I can find and stuff in you!!!"

I've got my fingers crossed you don't have to reformat, but if you do have to, there is one small positive thing about it. After I had to reformat mine in August, I discovered that there were a lot of men out there who just melted when I mentioned I had just had to reformat, repartition DOS, reinstall windows, etc. and done it myself. You'd think I had been talking dirty to them instead of just discussing computer stuff.

Maybe it's the "f" in the "fdisk" command ...
