What kind of Mac do you have, and more importantly, what version of system software do you use?

I have a Mac and a microphone and just want to record a simple sound file. How do I do this? Do I need special software? If so, what?

What an interesting coincident! I'm interested in just the same....

And: will it still work if at some point I start to talk very dirty?
