Computer Problem

I know this isnt a computer board, but it is a board that I like and I have some confidence in. Maybe someone here has had this problem.

My IE5 browser will not keep lycos as my default page, it switches to a page called loveadot.com or something similar. And the page isn't even there anymore. Does anyone know how to fix this? Thanks.

PS- Why can't I post this message under my registered name- RazeByFire? I know that I erased all cookies in my attempts to fix the problem, but shouldn't I be logged in to Literotica until I am log out?

Go to the page you want for your home page.

On the IE toolbar:

Click Tools - Internet Options - General

Near the top will be three different buttons - click Use Current

That should change it back

$20 please.

If using the "customize" button on the search pane doesn't reset youto Lycos, then you may need to reinstall IE5. I had problems with IE5 forgetting my default mail program, and removing and reinstlling IE5 was wahat it took to fix it.

Once you delete your cookie for Literotica, it will forget who you are after 15 minutes. You have to go to the main forum index and log in again to re-establish the cookie before it will remember who you are all the time.

Just remembered...

Harold problem reminded me that IE has a built-in repair tool you may want to try.

Open Control Panel

Open Add/Remove Programs

All the programs in your PC are displayed - click Internet Explorer

Click the Add/Remove button (it's safe!)

You will see three options - click on "Repair Internet Explorer"

IE will then start repairing itself. Can't remember for sure, but it may asky you to insert your Windows CD. When it finishes you will be asked to restart your computer.

Isn't Microsoft wonderful?

One other thing to watch...

...you naughty person. Lots of the porno web sites have a script that can rewrite settings like home pages. Don't ask me how because that's way over my head. It happened to me a few times until I tweaked up my firewall to stop them. The only draw back is that when NIS warns of a dangerous script it shuts IE down and I have to start over.

Just a tip.
