The following came up on my computer virus scan. I cant seem to get rid of them, and I cant seem to find any info on them online yet. Been trying since yesterday. Is anyone familiar with them, or how to get rid of them, or how to find information on how to get rid of them? Thanks ahead of time if anyone can help.

Hey it looks like there may be a virus in your System Restore folder (ya think!)

What you might want to do is turn system restore off, and then run the virus scan

to do that right click on the My Computer icon, and then select the System Restore tab, and uncheck the System restore box.

Then re-run your virus scan.

You may also want to try to start up in safe mode and run the virus scan again.

Hey! That excat same thing happend to my mom's computer. To get rid of it on my mom's computer, we just had to put in her recovery disk and recovery the whole computer and it got rid of it.

What virus scanner are you using?

Some virus scanners will catch viruses that others can not.

I advise you to go to www.download.com and search for Ad Aware, Spybot, those two tend to take care of everything pretty good once you update them after downloading.

Also Microsoft on their site have their own virus scanner in beta and it is very good so take a look at that.

Hope that helps.

I just love this place

Not only can I explore my exhibitionism here, but you guys help me with my computer problems. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU :)

I seem to have gotten rid of those damn trojan horses...my scans are coming in clean. I appreciate all your help.

If anything we said helped thats all that counts.

First thing about being protected online is having the proper anti virus programs in the first place, keep them updated and you will likely not be in such a spot again.

Yeah, you can always count on those Trojans being ripped condoms.

I have "E trust EZ antivirus" and "EZ firewall" I got a free years subscription with my Roadrunner (cable internet connection). I do keep them updated and on at all times. I was surfin between Lit and some other sites when I got the message that I had been infected (not really sure which site prompted it)

Would you recommend something else for an antivirus? Thanks again

Hmm... Well, because of the money issue, I hate having to get Anti-Virus programs, but so far the following programs have worked rather well for me:

Spy Sweeper
Norton Anti-Virus
Ad Aware

I might be missing a program or two, but these are what I can remember at the top of my head.

PC-Cillin from Trendmicro.com has a very good real-time scan that will block viruses and trojans BEFORE they infect your system -- it's not a free virus checker, but it's the best I've seen.

AVG Free from Grisoft.com is very nearly as good at real-time scanning and it is free for personal use. Plus AVG Free scans incoming and outgoing e-mail to block that route for infections.

Norton Anti-virus is so widely used that viruses have been written to attack the program, plus Norton's programs are memory and CPU hogs that slow your system down.

HybridCrow, Ad-Aware, Spy Sweeper, and MS's new anti-spyware program are not anti-virus programs. They're Anti-Spyware tools which is an entirely different problem from viruses and trojans.

They're usefull tools but not relevant to THIS problem.

The newest version of Norton AV includes spyware protection and removal, and a couple of other big names are moving in the direction of virus and spyware in one program, but the two kinds of problems shouldn't be confused.

If I might add my two cents in.... If you are looking for free apps, I recommend the following:

Zone Alarm for firewalls. You can goto http://www.zonelabs.com/store/content/catalog/products/sku_list_za.jsp?lid=dbtopnav_za and get there free basic version.

For spyware, I recommend Spybot and run it on a weekly basis. you can get that from here: http://www.download.com/Spybot-Search-Destroy/3000-8022_4-10289035.html?tag=pop

For Pop up ad removal and tracking, I recommend Ad-aware and run it on a wekly basis: http://www.download.com/Ad-Aware-SE-Personal-Edition/3000-8022_4-10319876.html?tag=pop

As for Anti-Virus, I use Norton's. As for what someone said bout it being a cpu and memory hog, it really depends on your system and what you are using it for. I've been using for years without a problem, not to say, there might be one that can get by.

If you get anything else and you can't get help immediately, copy and paste what you have in google and there is usually alot of security websites and threads that can help you.

Hope this helps, and by the way, nice breasts!

I agree that Ad-Aware and Spybot are among the best at getting rid of spyware and ads/cookies etc. But I use AVG from Grissoft and it works great. Have been able to keep viruses in check with it.

All three are free downloads. You can do a google search for the download sites.
