Completely Unsanctioned Quarterly Writing Contest - "Crush Your Enemy Like a Grape"
This completely unsanctioned contest has its origins in my new job, and specifically this bitch I’m working for. I decided to channel my anger into a story, and I’ve cast her as a former high school rival. My working title is “Best Served Cold? I Think Not – Revenge is sweeter when hotter”.
Then I thought, maybe I should invited my new Lit friends (I love you guys!) to join in and acknowledge the role that darker emotions play in our relationships. You don’t need an enemy, or a rival; just a story about jealousy and revenge!
THE RULES:
1. The story must be posted on Lit within the current quarter, i.e., between January 1, 2008 and March 31, 2008.
2. It may be in any category, and from any POV, as long as it features themes of jealousy or revenge.
3. The author must inform this thread within one week of the story posting, including the title (so that we know who else is in the contest, and you can’t just jump in at the end to claim the prize).
4. The prize sucks. There will be no money. Instead, the winner will get the coveted “yellow avatar” (see attachment). In fact, the leader of the contest at any time can claim the avatar, subject to being bumped off by an entrant who can prove she or he has a higher score.
5. No incest, at least not involving immediate family. Cousins are fine; aunts and uncles, too.
6. No stories about other Lit authors, either openly or as a roman a clef. (Didn’t think I’d know that phrase, did you?)
7. Winner to be decided by the score on April 1, 2008 at 12:01 a.m. May the best bitch/bastard win!
I’ll be posting the names of people who’ve agreed to enter, or already entered, here. So far, based on my earlier thread:
