The stupid fever came back, and I've been dizzy all day, and gloomy. Mr. N.'s mother keeps bringing us scary food. I don't know what they eat on her planet, but it ain't normal. I'm sure if I poke around at this stuff long enough I'll discover species of plants and animals previously unknown to mankind. I'm still not eating it.

Ok, well, I actually don't have many other complains at the moment. In fact, life is pretty, um, ok.

One thing that has made life absolutely amazing lately is the progress my son has made. He is "high functioning autistic," and has always been nearly impossible to live with, without seriously considering becoming addicted to Xanax.

This last year, he has grown in leaps and bounds. It's like he's a different kid than he was last year. He's cooperative. He's more focused. He listens. He's on a great schedule - going to bed every night at 8:30. He used to be up until midnight.

It's like a miracle really, if I believed in such things.

Ok, sorry, I know this wasn't the "things are wonderful" thread. I got off on a little tangent there.

Not really, Emerald. What can happen, with a lot of work, is that the autistic person can grow to understand that most people don't view the world as they do. They can learn to make eye contact and respond appropriately to a smile, but it will not be innate as it is with non-autistics.
