Complaining about writing

I don't really know what I am looking for here except just to bitch and I'm hoping you guys and commiserate.
I decided to try to write a Mother/Son incest story. Usually my brain functions in novel length and I have to cut it down for lit. I started writing. It flowed well. I like it, finished it, no thoughts for future scenes... I checked and it's just over 3,300 words!!
This is by far the shortest thing I've ever written! So do I post it and take the chance of picky lit readers being pissy about the length or just scrap it?

This is the point that I would usually get someone to beta but I don't have any incest betas so I'm kinda flying blind. 😒

Last one I posted here was 950 words. As long as it hit the minimum I didn't think any further about whether to post it. What you have to say in a story without becoming irrelevant or verbose is how long it should be.

It's a little short for the incest readership's standard tastes, but then again, it's Mom/Son. It probably won't do badly. If it's good enough, you'll probably be deluged with comments asking for more, but that's typically as far as it goes, so long as the story has a clear ending.

Almost everything I write in the pen name is that way. Clear ending, but there's always a dangling thread or two that could lead to more, if I choose. The readers don't get pissy if you never do, in my experience.

Since it's only 3300 words, I'll give it a read and my thoughts on both the story and the potential readership reaction, if you'd like. Drop me a PM.

post it. your loyal readers will like it regardless, just because you wrote it. as for the fault finders, fuck'em if they can't take a joke.

Depends on what's going on. If they get stuck together and end up having sex, it's fine if it's playful like that. There are ways to add character traits and so forth in a story that short. You just have to trim the fat and get to the point.

The story is what the story is. If it works at that length, go with it.

As a reader, I actually like the shorter stories. My "me time" for reading Literotica is limited. I usually check the page count before I start reading, and I back out of anything over three pages unless I know I really like the author.

Finding one-page stories is always a thrill for me, so I say submit it - and let me know when it's released.

For me, the sweet spot for stories here is 2-3 pages, or more if it really, really grabs me. But I'd say go with it and post it if it works as is, even if it's less than a full Lit page (3750 words, on average).

OK, thanks for the feedback and encouragement. I added a little but it still came in just under 5,000 words. I know if I think about it any more I'll just put it in a folder and never post it!
So I went ahead and submitted it, we'll see if it goes through! Writing time to submission on this one is definitely a record for me. Hope I don't regret that!

Let us know when it goes through, and give us a link so we'll be sure to see it. My stories are almost always in the two- or three-page range, which is also the stories I read the most.

You've got 44 favorites, a well-above H score, and over 500 votes in a few hours.

The comments talking about wanting more seem to be leaning toward the "Love chapter 2" variety rather than the "not enough to get me off" variety.

I'd call that a success — especially when you dashed it off in record time. :)
