Black smoke billowed out of the doorway contrasting sharply with the pristine white hallways. The hallway alarm blared red lights flashing as people screamed and ran away from the smoke. From the smoke futuristic black suited soldiers spilled out waving their assault riffles and opening fire on the fleeing people. Some of them turned pulling out there own pistols and exchanging fire as they tried to protest the people fleeing who were without weapons. It was a valiant effort that proved fruitless as the attacking force quickly and easily took them down shredding through them like paper. Pretty soon the hallways was filled with piles of dead bodies and spent bullet casings.

“Hallway secure” One of the lead soldiers said “moving into the cafeteria now”

They moved as one unit moving over the bodies quickly and without a care in the world. They reached the double doors leading to the cafeteria and stopped fixing a breaching charge on the door before stepping back and retreating to a safe distance. The commander pulled out a remote detonator nodding at his fellow soldiers before counting down to three and blowing open the door.

The hallway shook from the blast but the soldiers paid it no mind instead pouring into the cafeteria. There guns swept the room frowning as they noticed the tables were tipped over creating a barricade……

BEEP BEEP

“Mine!” The commander shouted jumping back just as the mine below their feet gave a high pitched wine and bolts of electricity shot out and hit some of the soldiers. They gave a collective scream as the electricity fried their systems and their bodies. They slumped to the floor smoking slightly and out for the count.

“I’d surrender if I were you” A voice called out handsome sure and confident “dealing with me can be a rather shocking experience”

“I’ll kill you!” The commander shouted leveling his rifle at the source of the noise and firing full blast.

Two tables down the man moved his hands away from his watch and watched as the remote mike he planted blew up.

“Damn Professor X’s going to kill me” He muttered to himself frowning slightly. He couldn’t dwell on it though he was in a superior flanking position and he had full plans to take advantage of that. He quickly bounded over the table moving like a blur and slamming into the black suited commander.

They wrestled for a few seconds with the man trying to wrestle the gun out of his hands while he tried to point it at the soldiers face. He finally saw an opening and went for it elbowing the man straight in the gut before unloading the last of his bullets into his face.

“Well that was gross” He remarked letting the man fall to the floor before flipping the lights on to the cafeteria. The white light brought him out of the shadows revealing a man in a simple black long sleeve shirt and jeans, complete with combat boots. He had a rugged military look with close cropped brown hair, rich tan skin, and a slightly pudgy face, his eyes were a shocking and deep blue disarming and captivating at the same time.

“Every one still alive in here?” Timothy asked pausing to pull the soldiers handgun out of his holster “We need to get a move on there’s bound to be more of the buggers”

Testing the professor's new technologies should be the highlight of another boring day at the office, but as soon as Jen opened the door, she heard the sound of gunfire. Not just gunfire. Those were Uzi submachine guns and HK416s. Which meant that whoever was firing them were not friendly, well-funded and meant business. Not a combination she liked to have at headquarters. For that matter, how did an enemy army--or at least a group that large--get into the building? And what about her team? Her friends? Were they still alive?

But it wasn't the time for questions. The time for action had come at a very unexpected place. The sounds of gunfire were closing in and behind her, the scientists huddled under their tables, cowering. Like that would be any help. She closed the doors and overturned a table to barricade it. It wouldn't stop the advancing party, but it would give her a few seconds.

Jen grabbed whatever she could in the lab, loading guns and various tech on her person as she laughed to herself as she always did when she shook off her nerves.

"You know, hiding like that isn't going to help you." She tossed a bag of nerve jammers to the most stable looking of the scientists. "Use the duct over there to escape. Anyone gets in your way, throw that at them. A couple of minutes of paralysis should be enough to get you through."

"What about you?"

She cocked two of her ACPs and walked over beside the doors flattening herself on the wall. "I'll buy you time or else we're all dead. Everyone, move over to the duct, now!"

The scientists scrambled to the ducts opening it quickly. As the first few scientists got in, bullets exploded into the room through the doors. Definitely not friendlies. The researchers panicked and pushed against one another to quickly try to get into the duct, just as the doors burst open and the table flew, crashing through the rows of lab equipment. The armed men started to file in the room, weapons at the ready. Jen grinned and shot them in two handed dropping them with a single shot as they came in, causing panic and random fire.

One of them caught sight of her before she could shoot him in the neck, causing several others to turn her way. She rushed in, grabbed one of them, used him as a human shield and shot his own submachine rifle at his comrades.

In an instant, the coast was clear of enemies, but for the man she held in a neck lock. As the last of the scientists disappeared, she nonchalantly snapped his neck and sorted through their things.

Serpent. How did those terrorists get in? They just couldn't have waltzed past security as easily as that. There has to be a traitor inside them.

She shook her head. That would be for later. There could be some others who were still alive. If she could get to them before Serpent killed them, they could still spring back from this. Though, if Serpent had come this high up the building unhindered, things weren't looking good for them.

The most important place would be the hub. If Serpent controlled it, they would know where every agent in the field were and intercept any communications. She couldn't fight a whole army of them, but if she could send a warning message, they could all regroup later and fight back. Reloading her guns, she headed toward the hub, hoping she would run into her friends and her team on the way.

Jen took a scrunchie from her pocket and tied her dark hair high on her head. Her sapphire eyes sparkled as she laughed to herself again feeling a little bare in her tank top and cargo pants. Compared to her enemies she had absolutely no bullet proof or helmet on her. Which makes things more interesting.

As she walked to the elevator, she saw a familiar face. Richard, their team's scientist lay dead in his own blood. Anger flashed in her veins. Those bastards were going to pay.

“Guess you guys aren’t interested in talking!” Tim hollered pumping his arms and legs as he raced towards the blast doors. He heard the sounds of ammo being slapped into assault riffles and swore watching as the heavy door began to slide down. He popped a smoke grenade hurling it back and sliding under the door opening just as he heard coughing and bullets flying.

“Damn it” Tim swore getting up and brushing off his jeans as he turned to the door. He pulled out his signature weapon of choice the AP pistol and fired it at the door controls effectively shredding the keypad and preventing them from hacking it. Of course they would still blow it but that would take valuable time that he could use to secure the HUB.

The HUB was where all the agencies ops were run and kept track of. It was one of the most secure places in the world essentially hack proof.

But this wasn’t a system hack

He needed to make sure all the data was purged; he had friends out in the field who would die if this organization got the Intel. He wasn’t exactly a patriot but he was loyal to the people he worked with and knew a lot of them and even counted them as friends it was the price to pay from working in the shadows and in secret. Your friends tended to be the people hanging out in the shadows with you. Tim didn’t really mind it so much I mean hell it made for interesting conversation at the very least.

Of course when every one you knew was also as dangerous as you were things tended to get interesting

He continued running keeping his pistol at the ready ash e stepped over the fallen bodies of soldiers and friends alike. He tried not to notice it and instead focused on the mission keeping to him self as he inched closer and closer to the center of their little facility. It took him about ten minutes to reach the HUB and he was relieved to see it was soldier free.

For now

He walked in rushing past the people hiding out there and going to the master computer. He found the Data purge command and swore realizing it needed to be executed by two interlocking keys. The commander himself would have one and if Tim was a betting man Roscoe the chief intelligence officer would have the other.

Which put him in a bit of a pickle

“Is there any way to do this manually?” Tim hollered looking at the science officers. They all exchanged worried glances before nodding as a female scientist stepped up. Tim gave her the once over noticing she was pretty and biting down the ready made pick up line, inter office romance wasn’t the best idea when you worked with people trained in intelligence and in some cases torture.

“If you set explosive charges in the main server banks” She explained bringing up a diagram on the main screen and highlighting the area below the HUB “it will be sufficient to destroy all of the data”

“Okay good” Tim said breathing out a sigh of relief “I need every one trained in combat to set up barricade’s and choke points as well as set up traps and mine’s I’ll go down and destroy the server banks”

Seconds after he said that the HUB began to rumble the foundation shaking as multiple explosions began to go off. Tim swore realizing they were beginning to blast there way through the heavy blast doors as quickly as they could. He had to get those servers destroyed and these people evacuated. The bad thing was he only had a plan for one and no idea how to do the other without fighting through a hoard of soldiers and mercenaries. Where was the commander in all of this? Was he even here?

“No time to track him down” Tim thought stealing himself as he began grabbing the explosives he had a job to do

And people to save

Jen rushed as quickly as she could, dropping what enemies got in her way. None of them were as good as she or the other agents were, but they were a swarm. Six more groups and she'd be too tired to survive a seventh. She had to do it quickly and stealthily.

Which wasn't really an option given how the whole office was engineered to have narrow hallways and barely any pillars jutting out to hide in. She went through three more groups earning herself a couple of scratches and a few bruises, which was all in the days work, she supposed.

A tremor from an explosive shook the building and she cursed quickly making her way to the HUB. As she barreled down the hall, she skidded to a halt finding a group of men with pretty heavy artillery at the blast doors. At least there was someone inside the HUB who had the sense to lock them out. But the thing was going to give soon. Explosives aside, they had a battering ram that would make short work of the door once the explosives tore through the bars holding them in place.

She reached to her pocket to reload her guns. Empty. Old school then. She chucked her guns in favor of a steel blade hook and chain. She would have wanted her quarterstaff, which was quicker, but she needed the range. And she didn't bring that particular weapon with her. She laughed at herself again and charged, throwing the blade toward the man readying the battering ram as the last explosive set off, jumping to avoid the unsteadiness she would feel with the quake. The chain caught the side of his neck and the blade looped around until it punctured his neck. Jen pulled the guy toward him, picked up the gun around his body and shot at his comrades as they tried to get their bearings after the shock.

She rolled to the side, hiding behind one of their military grade cases as they shot at her. They definitely didn't worry about shooting whatever was inside those crates, so they could be empty or they were made to withstand missile blasts.

Twenty five rounds left. She sighed. She really did prefer handguns. No bullets wasted, higher accuracy percentage. Unless of course she was sniping, then a rifle would be preferable. She took out a mirror and saw at least fifteen enemies left standing. All with varying assault rifles, firing at her at full auto and what looks to be unlimited ammo.

Jen grinned. She loved it when the odds were stacked against her.

She pulled out a pair of sonic discs and a stuffed a pair of earplugs in her ears. "Hope you're ready boys." She tossed the activated discs toward them blaring out an ear splitting tone that stopped them from firing. She emerged, blasting one side with a rifle, clearing them and rushed to the other side with her weapon slashing at three guys, chained another who tried to run away, punched the other who tried to shoot her even with his ears bleeding, pulled the one she chained closer and took the handgun of one of the dead ones and shot all the rest.

That done, she went to the devices, turned it off and pulled out the plugs. "Well, battering ram, looks like it's just you and me now."

The thing was very heavy., but on wheels, she was finally able to get it to the door, anchor the legs and started pounding at the door. As the thing rammed the weakened door, she reloaded on guns and ammo, hoping that she could get this business done before anyone could get up and become a steady stream of reinforcements.

Tim was having a bad day

He cursed keeping his head down and more importantly the explosives safe as the soldiers hosed the corridor with bullet spray after bullet spray. The bubble shield he deployed was holding thank god but he was pinned down for the time being. The handy little shield would only get stronger as it absorbed the kinetic force of the bullets but in order to advance he would need to shut it down. Of course if he wasn’t out of ammo he could finish off the bastards…….

But he was out of ammo

“Damn I could use some backup” Tim murmured staring at his spent pistol and tucking it back into his holster. It didn’t help that the bastards had caught him unaware and with out his best gear. What he wouldn’t give for his covert ops suit, or his other gadgets! He felt naked and not in the fun sexy way he enjoyed.

No this wasn’t fun at all

Even though the HUB was secure the bastards attacking the facility had some how managed to get into the server room. The good news was the machines were all behind locked bulletproof glass and no one in there seemed to have brought explosives. Of course the bad news was that at this rate they would have some before he could stop them.

“What to do what to do?” He murmured as more bullets pinged against the bubble shield.

Only one thing really to do

“I hate my life” He murmured getting up and shouldering the pack of explosives he crouched into a runners stance narrowing his eyes as he focused on the three soldiers currently blocking his ways and doing their damn best to fill him with bullet holes. They had to run out of bullets at some point he reasoned and once they did they would see who was faster.

His feet or there hands

A few more bullets slammed into the shield before he heard the familiar click click of spent ammo clips. Before they could even begin to reach for the spares belted to their armor he hit the button on his watch dropping the shield. He yelled running as fast as he could clearing the distance so quickly he was nothing more than a blur. The soldiers backed up scrambling to slam the clips into their respective HK416’s before he could reach them.

Turns out he was faster

He slammed into the lead soldier ripping the gun out of his hands before sending it cracking into his helmet. He didn’t drop but h was dazed enough Tim had time to throw him into the other two and sending them pushing against the door. He jumped throwing all his weight into a vicious punch that sent the four of them spilling through the door as it gave way. Tim landed on top of one and kicked out with the other sending his combat boot through the man’s helmet and connecting with his nose.

Then he heard the sound of more Uzi’s being cocked

He swore grabbing the dazed soldier he landed on and lifting him up. Seconds later the body thudded as his fellow soldiers opened fire on him. Tim took the time to wrestle the man’s micro Uzi out of it’s holster and returned fire sending the guards scrambling.

“Thanks mate” He murmured pushing the guy away before he could move however a pair of hands picked him up wrapping around his neck and lifting him clear off the ground before he could lash out the soldier slammed him back into the ground knocking all the wind out of him and leaving him dazed.

“Damn that hurt” Tim said blinking away the stars “can you give me a minute here?” He asked weakly as his hands gripped the Karambit he kept in his boot. Before the guard could answer he cut the man’s knee bringing him down to the floor just as the other soldiers recovered and opened fire. Tim was already gone however flipping over the man and ducking behind a bank of computer servers.

“God damn” He murmured watching as the soldier caught the hail of bullets and fell to the floor “these guys have no fucking class”

He brought up his watch and hit the communications button linking him to the HUD “who’s online I’m down in the server room and I’m about to rig this place to blow have you guys found an exit yet?”

As soon as the battering ram slammed the doors open, Jen strode through the corridor half her senses behind her for any sign of Serpent getting through the unbarred doors. Without enemies in the way, she quickly got through to the HUB. The people screamed in surprise when she came through an unfinished barricade.

"Whoa, whoa...it's okay. It's me. I need to get inside." They didn't bar her from going in and talked in a loud voice for everyone to hear. "We don't have much time, so we have to be quick about evac," she headed to the main controls and inserted Richard's flash drive. "For you, Rich," she whispered to herself.

"Do you have a plan to get us out?" one of the scientists asked.

"Making it up as I go."

"No, wait," a female scientist said, "Tim said to set up barricades and choke points. Looks like we're hunkering down here until he gets back."

Tim. Of course, he would be confident he could take them all on. "No, we're not. We're leaving." She tapped her finger on the dashboard. "Look, those men in black are cannon fodder for Serpent. Soon, the cavalry will arrive, then the heavy artillery. Then, we'll all die here. I can't promise everyone's safety, but we have to try and get out of here."

She punched the keys on the keyboard and saw the schematics of the building, committing them to memory. "There's still the jets and carriers. We could go there. I need everyone to get the corpses outside and bring them here. Dress up in their gear and we'll try to go through as nonchalantly as possible. It's not the best plan, but that's the best we can do for now."

60%. The download was taking quite some time, but with all the data Richard's drive is taking, it really was going to take a while.

The scientists looked at each other, unsure what to do.

"Have it your way. If you trust him more than you trust me, stay then."

Tim's voice suddenly crackled in the hub. “Who’s online I’m down in the server room and I’m about to rig this place to blow have you guys found an exit yet?”

"Well, well, well. If it isn't the puppy himself." Jen growled inwardly. She had been looking for any specialists who still lived to help her out, unfortunately, she found no one but Tim. "Listen, don't blow the server room yet. I need a little more time."

"What are you doing?" one of the scientists asked.

"I need to download the data, to find out where everyone is and contact them. Most of them have no idea what is going on. We need to warn them and contact them in order to coordinate a counter-attack. I need another minute or two." She turned her attention back to the monitor. 80%. "As for an exit, I have one, but it's not a hundred percent." She explained her plan to him. "We could have a prisoner for interrogation so we have an alibi for going out instead of in."

Tim listened setting up the charges in strategic points, he made sure that every bit of the server room would go up and flames and smoke even as he inwardly cursed at his luck. Jen “freakin” Storm was on the other line already asserting her self in control of the situation. He supposed he could remind her that he was technically the superior agent in charge here but it would no doubt lead to screaming and cursing from her. Before the agency came under attack they were locked in a bitter rivalry each one trying to best the other in missions and in competition. He supposed he should be grateful he had such an accomplished agent behind him but he had to bite back the retort as she laid out her plan.

“I guess it’s the best we got” Tim said affixing the last of the charges and stepping back to sink them to the timer “But you have….” He paused checking his watch “five minutes before the charges in the server room blow we can’t risk the data under any circumstances”

He grabbed the soldier and paused swearing as he noticed the hiccup in her plan “Uh Jen” He said staring at the bullet holes in the armor and stepping out of the server room “explain to me how your going to hide in armor that’s got blood and bullet holes in it”

He tried to keep the gloating out of his voice but he couldn’t help but be a little smug. The hiding in soldier armor was a great idea….. If it wasn’t for the fact that the armor they had on hand was scorched and bloodied. They could pretend to be injured but they would have to worry about some one trying to put them on a medevac or in a mobile care unit. If they got stuck there they would have to go through an ID check and their position would be compromised.

“I’m waiting to here an idea” Tim said bounding up the staircase and moving into the relatively secure HUD. He spotted his new “partner” and paused taking the time to appreciate her killer body before putting on his game face. He sauntered over to her giving her a smile before checking on some of the scientist. They were relatively unharmed but he could hear the enemy soldiers getting closer and closer with each passing moment.

“Please tell me you’re done” He called out to Jen coming over to her “we need to figure out a way to get these people to safety with out wearing guard clothes that look like they went a few rounds with a machine gun” He said to her being as patient as he could. It really wasn’t the time for inter office politics, at least not when so many lives were on the line as well as their own.

Five minutes. Come on, stupid computer! Jen rolled her eyes as he explained the problem. Probably just looking for the tiniest loopholes he could find. "Look, Sherlock. Blood is almost invisible over black and it's not like I miss a lot to hit shoulders and other places that are covered by kevlar. Don't tell me you're that messy." She grinned to herself. "Besides, you do know of tunnel senses right? You know, when you're so focused on a mission and a possible enemy that the only thing you're attuned to are threats? These guys aren't trained well enough. Now, if the cavalry arrives, that's a different question altogether."

She looked at the schematics one more time for another plan just in case he wants to battle her about it. It was annoying, but she couldn't risk a my dog is bigger than your dog competition in this scenario. That could wait. Besides, when he said he was still looking for an idea, that seemed to be the signal he wasn't giving in.

"Please tell me you're done."

Jen whipped around, glaring at him. She wondered how on earth she could still have a crush on him. Sure, when they were starting, he was the hottest, most amazing guy on the team. He quickly became a prime selection for the Specialists. He didn't see her, apparently, and she did her best for him to notice her. She had to work twice as hard to get in the Specialist program, but that only put them at odds with one another. Stupid move. He did notice her, only he wanted to make her look bad because she was doing too well. After all only one Specialist was chosen every year. And he was already the prime bet. But on their year, both of them became specialists...which only heated their rivalry. Both their teams were obviously evenly matched. And now, without teams, they have no one else to work with but each other. Hopefully, it wouldn't be too difficult to do. At least, not more difficult than he was already making the situation.

And for all that, she still found him hot and more than capable. Definitely a guy she could not give an inch to or he would eat her alive.

"If you want another way out, we can distract them by going to the vault at the last basement and burying the place under with explosives, but we have to be careful not to set off the dangerous stuff. By hitting that area, we're going to direct the whole force there and make a way for everyone to escape. If they're after any technology or weapon that could make any sense of this invasion, it's there. Because if they're not after anything, they could have just blown us up." She sighed as the computer flashed 100% and she pulled out the drive. "The only problem is, whoever is going there would have very little chance of getting out alive, between the explosions and being surrounded by Serpent. The only way out will be the elevator shaft they used to create the basement. It's definitely not working anymore, but if the right cord is cut, it's possible to jet out at high velocity with a heavy counterweight. But then again, that will be cutting through a steel cable two inches in diameter. Leads right up to the hangar." It was dangerous, but that was the next best she could come up with.

"Unless you have a better idea, you better take the lesser evil, because I'm telling you, there's no way to get out of a Serpent surrounded high-security building that probably has moles and planned out so well without taking a great risk."

Was she serious?

He waited crossing his arms and trying very very hard not to look exasperated as he gave her some time to figure out what she was saying. To be fair he hadn’t thought about the vault either and really her explanation of the reason why no one would bother them was sound. If any thing he would have been impressed with her reasoning and deduction even conceded that she was in the right. I mean sure they were competitors but he was willing to play nice in these dire circumstances.

Then she had to mention the god damn vault

“Your technically right about the outfits” He finally said sighing and leaning against the counter crossing his arms and watching her not really noticing how the simple pose accented his muscle and defined him in the shadows of the emergency night “but you also shot your self in the foot kind of” He remarked bringing up the vault and highlighting it on the screen.

“The vault has nuclear weapons inside of it”

Nuclear weapons he had recently “acquired” from a highly secure terrorist compound. It was a mission he had gotten over her so she wouldn’t have known the particulates of it. The nuclear warheads were high grade and until recently pointed at China in an attempt to ransom the high profile country. He was able to get in take control of the base and kill every one thus securing the weapons from the trigger-happy terrorist. Of course the boss was strictly against nuclear weapons so instead of giving them back to the embarrassed country who lost them (hint American as apple pie) they were currently sitting in the very secure vault along with a few other high profile weapons.

“We have to go blow the vault and bury it” He said looking at her “we cant let the Serpent get a hand on nuclear grade weapons if they don’t already have them besides there are a lot of weapons in that vault that shouldn’t fault into the wrong hands you’re right if Serpent wanted to destroy us they would have so they want whatever’s in there it’s our job and mission to make sure they don’t get it”

He looked at the scientist trying to figure out what to do before turning to her “so I guess we should split up? One of us take the scientist out and another one go blow the vault? I mean Ideally if we could both hit it that would be great but this is more than likely going to be a suicide mission” He said sighing

“Why don’t you go with them and I take care of this?” He said trying his best not to sound smug or like he was trying to one-up her “Look if I manage to get out that’s great but if not then at least my life will be the only one lost go out with them and make sure Serpent doesn’t by any means get their hands on that data”

He turned grabbing up as much weaponry as he could and belting it to his body. It would slow him down but she was also correct in saying there would be one metric fuck ton of guys between him and the vault. He would have to be on a whole other level just to get there and would need as much fire power as he could possibly hold.

He turned suddenly reaching out and pulling her close “always wanted to do this” He said smirking in his patented oh so sexy way before leaning in and capturing her mouth in a heated kiss. He kissed her deeply and passionately holding it as long as possible before she finally got over her surprise. He regrettably pulled away winking at her before turning and starting to make his towards the vault.

Nukes? When the hell did they have nukes in the vault? Well, right now, it didn't matter, but she bet it was the mission he took from her. She already let go of that. It was no use getting angry at him for it and even more useless to get worked up over it all over again.

Plan A was definitely out of the question, as much as she'd rather waltz out of the place, there was no other option. The point was, they agreed on something. The only thing she didn't like about it was that he was was going to look like the hero in front of everyone, no matter how factual he assigned their places.

Assigned. That was another thing she hated. He just put her in a place where if she fought him over who was doing who, she would look unreasonable, because as much as she hated it, he was right. Someone had to escort the scientists while he distracted them and she did have the information Serpent would kill for. Between them, she was the more likely candidate to escort the scientists.

"Fine. I'll take them. Anyone here who can fly a carrier?"

One of the scientists raised his hand.

"You go fly it."

"O-okay...you're going to be copilot?"

"No can do. Pick someone else." She cocked her guns, looking at Timothy. "I'll wait and hold for fifteen minutes on the jet. If you're not out by then, I'll assume you're dead. Oh, and here." She tossed him the sonic device and the earplugs. "Those are going to be useless for me. Just make sure to give it back. The professor only made one of those and I sure as hell have fallen in love with it."

Jen raised her eyebrows as he loaded himself with weapons, but he couldn't blame him. Not even a perfect shot like them could down a person with one bullet if there was a barrage of fire raining down on them. As much as she wanted him strangled, she didn't want other people to do it. She wanted to do it herself.

As soon as she was ready, he surprised her when he pulled her close. "Always wanted to do this."

She opened her mouth to ask what the hell he was doing, but he covered her mouth with his and plundered her mouth with his tongue. She couldn't move, rooted on her spot. Before she could think or push him away, her mouth responded coaxed by his expert kissing. Her mind was clouded as their lips locked in heated passion. Suddenly, everything clicked in her head. She couldn't be kissing him! But before she could push him away, he tore himself away from her and winked, leaving her stunned and breathless as he went ahead.

Tim always wanted to kiss her? No. That couldn't be right. He must have always wanted her speechless. That was probably it. She often had the last say in things and this time, he did. But even as she settled her thought on that, she couldn't help but blush a deep shade of red. As much as he irked her, she still thought him so attractive. Even moreso that he was actually being selfless and sacrificing.

Jen looked around and saw everyone stare at her in shock. Of course, their rivalry was frequent office gossip. There was even a bet going on every now and then. They were probably as shocked as she was.

"Show's over, everyone. Get ready. We run when I say so. And arm yourselves even if you have no idea how to use a gun. Just don't point it at anyone who isn't Serpent."

Her heart was beating wildly. It wasn't the erratic beat of nervousness. She knew where it came from and for the moment, she didn't have any time for thoughts of Tim.

Frick! He was such a good kisser...

“Well I can finally cross that off my bucket list” Tim thought to himself leaving the HUB and sparing her one last glance. He idly wondered if he had managed to surprise her and if she actually knew he wanted to kiss her. Oh sure she was his prime competitor and they had butted heads (even literally once….. long sotry) time and time again but….. Well she was the hottest girl in the agency! And they were kind of perfect for each other as well both of them were highly trained killers for starters trained in all manner of seduction and weaponry. He imagined if they actually sat down and had a real date.

They would have a lot in common

“To bad I’m probably going to die” He murmured to himself going down the corridor and pulling out one of the spare glock’s he acquired. He had no idea how this was going to play out but his chances of actually getting out alive were very slim. The exit strategy she had brought up counted on a lot of luck and even though Tim was lucky he wasn’t sure he was THAT lucky. He knew it was to late to turn back now but he counted help but drag his feet as he continued down the corridor.

“Fuck” He murmured to himself as more explosions rocked the building. What the hell was serpent doing? I mean they must have already had the building 90 percent secure who else could be giving them so much trouble?

Speaking of trouble

He neared the vaults doors and found a small company of soldiers drilling in. He was right (which he hated some times) serpent wanted whatever was in the vault. He wasn’t sure how they managed to circumvent the HUB to get to the vault but they were doing there damn best to get in. He counted himself lucky that whoever designed the building made the corridors such easy choke points. They were all lined up with nowhere to go which meant he could punch through them fairly easily and get inside.

Then he would be the one in the choke point

“Well here goes every thing” Tim murmured tucking the glock into it’s respective holster and leveling the sonic device in one hand and a Remington pump action shotgun in the other. He counted to three and then stepped forward activating the sonic device and quickly stepping forward.

Eight shells

12 soldiers

He moved quickly blasting away as quickly and efficiently as possible. The shotgun was a good piece of weaponry and the soldiers fell quickly and neatly to his blast. He didn’t bother reloading the shotgun instead tossing it as hard as he could at one of the soldiers scrambling to attack him. There was no cover in the corridor which meant he was exposed and would be killed if he didn’t act fast. The glock came back up just as the lead soldier stumbled back from the gun chucked in his face.

Four soldiers left

He was one part aim one part make sure they couldn’t get a shot off on him. He filled the corridor with the sharp smell of gunpowder and bullets. His shots cut into the other soldiers causing them to stumble down and groan as he shredded them. He didn’t stop keeping the shots up until he was sure every one was dead.

He rushed to the door ripping away the drill and keying in the access code to the vault. The door slid open and he moved in putting the door on lockdown before triggering the self-destruct sequence. The charges affixed to the roof would be primed with enough C4 to bury the entire room and make it inaccessible with out triggering the nuke’s. If he was lucky It would trigger the entire facilities charges effectively burying the place in six feet of rubble.

“Now lett’s hope the elevator is working” He murmured going over to the escape hatch. He crossed the cavernous room and sighed in relief when he saw the elevator doors relatively intact. He started running to them pumping his arms widely as he realized he might just make it out of here.

Then they beeped

The world slowed as the doors opened as if they were the gates of hell them selves. A hulking serpent soldier stepped out leveling a machine gun as mean and tough looking as he was. Tim turned throwing himself to the side just as the behemoth opened fire and filled the space he had been seconds before with a storm of bullets.

Tim slammed onto the ground and rolled losing most of his weaponry in the process. He managed to duck behind a shelf filled with high tech devices just as the hulking soldier let lose another barrage. He jumped up running further down the isles to get some space. He finally made it so safety and doubled over trying to calculate and figure out how much time he had left.

“I have no fucking clue” Tim murmured to himself pulling out his pistol and checking the rounds. Six shots left, six shots against a fucking minigun that did a thousand rounds a minute!

“I’m screwed” Tim murmured banging his head against the shelf. He moved to do it again before he stopped stepping back and taking another look at the isle.

He was in a god damn vault full of super weapons

The behemoth with the minigun frowned resisting the urge to scratch his head in confusion. Where had his prey gone? The little man was probing to be an annoying little bug. Seconds ago he thought he had seen his prey ducking behind an isle but now he was nowhere to be found. The behemoth wasn’t a big fan of puzzles especially ones as difficult as this one why couldn’t the man just present himself to be destroyed.

“Looking for me?”

The behemoth turned (slowly) finally finding his prey waiting for him at the end of the isle his wish came true!...... Though the man hadn’t been wearing the strange outfit he was wearing now. He had on a long coat that was white with red under tones. The coat had a beaked hood preventing him from seeing the mans face.

“Why you change outfit?” The behemoth asked in confusion

“You don’t like it?” The man asked cocking his head

“It nice” The behemoth said shrugging “I more fan of black”

“I can see that big guy it looks very good on you” The man said kindly “as well as the gun”

“Gee thanks” The behemoth said blushing the man was so nice! “My mommy got me the gun”
“Did she know” The man said “and you’re going to kill me with it?”

“Yes” The behemoth said frowning “I think I be sad about it”

“Tell you what then big guy” the man said raising his hands “how about I come at you so your forced to defend your self”

The behemoth thought it over for a minute before nodding “sounds good”

“Ready then?” The man asked

“Go”

Tim ran feeling the circuitry in his new outfit kicking in. He moved faster than he ever had before surprising the behemoth. He fumbled at his gun and opened fire letting a hail of bullets meet Tim. Tim once again sent a prayer that the outfit was still working and brought his arm up flexing and activating the hardlight shield. The energy shield sprang out blocking the bullets and shielding him from the heavy firepower. The behemoth looked surprised and hollered out raining more fire on Tim as he cleared the distance between them. Tim jumped deactivating the shield and letting the wrist blade pop out he brought the soldier down stabbing him directly in the faceplate with all his might.

“Sorry big guy” Tim murmured pulling the blade out and watching the blood drip “no hard feelings”

He got up and made his way to the elevator using the knife to pry open the doors leading into the shaft. He changed the settings on the gauntlet and quickly went to work spraying the cable with a brittle freezing solution. Afterwards he climbed a few meters up wrapping the rope around him before pulling out his pistol.

“Please still be waiting” He murmured up the shaft before he fired. The frozen hinges shattered from the force of the bullet. The cable grew taunt and suddenly he was being propelled shooting up the shaft like a bullet.

“Fuck” He yelled closing his eyes as the charges below him went off. He felt the entire complex beginning to shake and a rush of heat below him as the fire from the explosion shot into the shaft. He saw he top floor rushing to greet him and jumped activating the suits super strength as he punched the doors.

………………………..

Tim shot out gripping the elevator door and using it as a sled. He slid into the hanger screaming at the top of his lungs half out of fear and half out of adrenaline. He realized he was about to slam headfirst into a wall and rolled off closing his eyes as he heard the slam of metal against metal. He finally came to a stop and kept his eyes closed his entire body going slack as the toll of using the suit took over leaving him fatigued and close to passing out.

“Hope my rides still here”

Jen took several deep breaths and counted. She closed her eyes trying to sense the movement of Serpent. It wasn't a reliable technique, but it's the best thing she could do without eyes and ears on the whole place. The thought made her laugh away her nervousness.

"Let's go." Jen led the way guns ready in both hands, walking a few steps ahead of the scientists. She would have liked for them to be quieter, but they were stomping their announcement all the way to the next floor. This was why she hated a rescue op. Especially when rescue involves sneaking out a large group. Any and all deaths and injuries stayed in her conscience.

She heard footsteps coming from the other corridor and raised her hand to stop the team--only to run into her and push her in the line of oncoming soldiers, guns already trained on her.

Shit.

She rolled away, unable to do anything as the barrage of bullets rained on her. She was able to hide behind a counter, but with those many bullets and her bumbling, she was hit on her side. Grazed, mostly, but it was still a hit and there was still pain. It was dull for now, but she would feel it later when the wound sets in and the adrenaline was gone.

She looked at the scientists all cowering behind the corridor, most just ducking and covering their ears. Gun shots were always so loud when you're not used to them.

Taking one grenade off her belt, she pulled off the pin and threw it at the enemies. Strangely, they rarely had grenades with them. She didn't know if it were because they were mooks or because their heads were just stupid enough not to give them grenades, but who was she to complain if she could use that to her advantage?

The grenade exploded and screaming ensued from both sides. From Serpent, pain. From the scientists, terror. She used the distraction to run toward her enemies, some were firing blindly, so she kept low. She came to the first man and slashed his throat open, threw her chain at a gunner;s feet and pulled them from under him. She rolled forward slashing the shin of the first she encountered, punched him in the ear and kicked the other one to the groin before stabbing through his eye, upward to his brain at the same time breaking the neck of the other one by stomping on it.

Serpent was finally getting their bearings, and she was able to grab one foot soldier's arm and twisted it at his back making him scream in agony as his comrades tried to shoot through him to get to her. As they killed their own comrade, Jen used her mobility to gain clear accurate shots of her opponents finally clearing the path for her and the scientists.

She headed back to them and urged them to move, but some of them were too frightened to even stand. Growling, she slapped the fainthearted. "If you want to die, don't drag your friends along with you in the grave. Now make a decision, die here or come with us. I don't have much time for this!"

Even though she was rough with her words, she ordered the stronger scientists to help their friends and follow her. "Now when I raise my hand that means stop, okay? Don't just bump into me like the last time."

Yup. She was starting to feel the pain. It was very dull, but it was already there saying hello to her.

They raced along the corridors as stealthily as they could, and with Serpent too gung-ho on securing their agency's most crucial points, they didn't even register them when they ran past a still group.

Tunnel sense. Always tunnel sense. Like she couldn't hear the constant alarm ringing throughout the building as they moved. Now that she actually noticed it, it was a horrible sound. It was as loud as a gunshot and thrice as annoying.

Soon, they reached the hangar door without any more incident and told them to wait behind her as she opened the doors, guns pointing outward.

Nothing.

She looked at all the bodies of Serpent soldiers lying around. Bloodless and without a single bullet shell on the ground.

What?

Jen motioned the scientists to come out and get to the carrier. They ran as she walked carefully, training her guns on the dropped men should any of them suddenly attack.

And then she found it. The reason they were all down. The paralysis smoke had just cleared and the first batch of scientists she let out had gotten into a plane out of the place. So that was why the hangar gates were open.

At least, that came in handy.

She motioned the scientists to go as soon as they were loaded and clambered onto the Nighthawk readying the plane. As the cargo plane took off, she looked at her watch. Waiting...waiting...

Fifteen minutes had passed and there was no sign of him yet.

"Five more minutes..." As soon as the words left her mouth, a group of Serpent foot soldiers began gathering into the hangar. Growling, she turned the jet around and started firing at them as they got into position with an anti-tank missile.

"Come on you flaming fool! Where the hell are you?" She pounded at them with bullets trying to stop them from bringing in a barricade for the missile shooter to get a clear shot at her.

She was about to stop her own assault when something burst from the side, sending a piece of metal flying as high as the hangar's ceiling.

"Come on!" She screamed at Tim. She knew he couldn't hear her, but she screamed anyway. "COME ON!"

She started turning the jet around still firing to cover Tim. As soon as he clambered into the jet, she turned on the thrusters at full power and shot a section of the hangar walls just as she was closing the jet.

The missile missed the wheel by a hair exploding into something outside as they flew to safety, bullets still trying to catch them in flight.

Cleared from the noose, Jen sat back and felt all of the pain at once. Her bruises, a couple of nicks and the bullet wound made her cringe, but she didn't want to let her rival know she was hurt.

"You're lucky I waited five more minutes. You owe me."

“Uh huh” Tim said knowing she was trying to be tough. The toll of using The Assassins suit was taking it’s toll on his body along with the bruises and energy drain from being in a prolonged fire fight. He felt like he had been punched multiple times and then a tank had rolled over him. He needed rest and he needed a moment to recover or else he would be dead on his feet.

Or possibly even dead

“Thank you” He said slumping into the copilot seat and pulling back the beaked hood “I owe you one you did good”

He knew she would either bulk at the praise or be offended by it which h didn’t necessarily care about right now. He felt himself drifting and forced himself to stay awake instead closing his eyes and focusing on his breathing. The rush of the days memory hit him and hit him hard and he took a few moments to process what was happening.

His agency was gone buried under ruble and fire, serpent was attacking them hell just declared war on them. He didn’t know how they were able to get onto the base or even find it which meant there might have been a mole. Where was the Director in all of this? Surely he was on base seeing as he was well always on base. Some thing about that didn’t seem right fishy even.

“So where are we headed to?” Tim finally asked saving his thought processing for some more rest and actual food in his belly “just out of curiosity” He murmured

"Thank you. I owe you one. You did good."

Jen blinked in surprise. What now? Perfect, arrogant, Specialist Agent Timothy was thanking her and acknowledging that she did well? In what world did that happen. She looked behind her and saw the suit. Oh. That suit. The suit that drained anyone who used it so much that their brains turned to mush. Jen bet he didn't even mean half of what he said so she opted not to grace it with a reply.

"If Serpent was able to get into our base, I don't know of any safe houses that would be safe. My best bet is to land somewhere where there aren't too many people. Use a bit of my connections to shake the shock out of our system before doing anything." She rolled her shoulders back, cracking as she did. "I don't know about you, but I'm tired. For now, you can sleep. Can't imagine what that suit did to you."

The jet headed toward an isolated woods area as she contacted Jake, a billionaire who owned one of the largest pharmaceuticals in the world. A contact she found useful on many occasions, so she was thankful she didn't kill him when he found out what she did for a living. He was so into the glamorous world of spying that he did almost anything he could for Jen, though usually, he gave in only if she flirted a little with him. Not that she minded. He was good looking, after all, though not exactly her type. Besides, it was always easy to thwart his advances.

Soon, she landed the Jet roughly on a lake imitating a crash just in case Serpent was monitoring their movements. They didn't wait long before Jake's small yacht came into view. The billionaire himself was there, greeting them with a big smile on his face.

"Hey there, beautiful. I--" he looked at her passenger and frowned.

"Sorry, Jake. This is my partner for the moment, Timothy. I didn't tell you everything, but we're kind of on the run, so this could be a little dangerous."

"A little danger is always needed to spice up our lives, right?" He winked at her and then frowned at the blooming patch of blood on her side. "Let me help you with that," he said and called out for one of his workers to help out Tim as he escorted her inside his luxury yacht.

"So, where do we go?" Jake asked.

"Just your home like I said. Best to hide out somewhere with not a lot of people. That way we're also aware of any movement they make. And if they strike, they harm no one else. Are you sure it's alright to use your mansion as a safe house?"

"Anything for you, beautiful." He kissed her fingers and she hid a wince, letting him, smiling at him instead.

At least for now, they were safe as they headed into a mansion, isolated from the rest of the world.

Tim watched the conversation and interaction to the two frowning a little. Huh so it seemed she wasn’t exactly on the market, either that or judging by the wince she didn’t have much love for the guy. He supposed he shouldn’t have let it bother him so much but he was surprised to find how much his belly knotted up in jealousy. Okay so maybe his “crush” on her went a little bit beyond a simple crush not that he would ever admit that to her but he supposed he could at least admit it to himself. With their life effectively flipped upside down he couldn’t help but think about what the future entailed for them. Parting of ways? Or partners getting revenge? If he had to op for any thing it would be the revenge track after all serpent had effectively declared war on the two of them and he was ready to get off defense and start playing offense.

Tim felt another wave of fatigue hit his body and sighed going below deck and into the yacht. He was physically at the very limits of his abilities from the suit. His old friend slash arch rival The Assassin had died using it against him in their final battle and almost killed him in the process. The suit had an impressive amount of ability backing it up but it came at great cost sapping the energy out of you the more you used it. He knew he would need it in the days to come (on of the reasons why he grabbed it) but he would have to be as careful as physically possible in order to get out of it alive.

He found a empty room and took it off hanging it up and pulling off his shirt as well. He checked his new scars and bruises against the old faded ones and winced. He grabbed the bottle of whisky conveniently on the wooden dresser and crashed in the chair taking a large gulp directly from the bottle before closing his eyes. He didn’t know if this guy could be trusted or not but it was Jen’s contact and he would give her the benefit of the doubt for now. He hoped she took it as a gesture of good faith and his trust in her.

And so he slept

Jake had seen to Jen's wounds himself. Not that she enjoyed him touching her, but she pretended to. After all, he was their host. It would be rude to slap his hands away when he was risking his own world for them.

As soon as he was done, she turned to him touching his hand in a gesture of gratitude. "Um, where's Tim?"

"Who? Oh! You partner? He's in a room four doors down. He seems okay."

Jen nodded. "If it's alright with you, I think I need some sleep."

"Anything you say." He kissed her cheek and she blanched as soon as he exited rubbing the offending cheek.

She waited for ten breaths before sneaking out of her room and into Tim's, carrying the medical box Jake used on her. She sighed seeing him totally not taken care of as he lay sprawled on the bed.

"I could kill you right now and you wouldn't even know it." She grinned, set the box down and looked at him, admiring him for a while. Sure, having a good body was common in the agency, especially in their circles, but she always seemed drawn to Tim's. And then there was his face. His stupid flirty face hitting on other women. The flirt who always sent her in a bad mood, wanting to strangle him. Unlike other women who openly looked at him she couldn't or he would tease her with it. She just always stole glances his way. Now, she had all the time in the world to really look at him as she brushes his hair from his face gently.

"You know, you can tell me when you're tired too..."

As much as she wanted to enjoy herself, all she could see were the many cuts and bruises he sported. Sighing, she stopped admiring him and set to work, gently curing his cuts and balming his bruises with gentle touches all over his body. As soon as she was done, she stole back into her room, before Jake checked up on her once again and pretended to sleep, all the while, thinking about what they could do to get HQ back.

Tim slept rather peacefully partly because the bed was nice and soft but more than any thing because he was completely and utterly drained. He was so exhausted that he didn’t even notice Jen and her medical ministrations and only finally woke up when the ships horn signaled their approach to the mansion. He shot up his hands groping for his pistol as his mind struggled to figure out where he was. It all came back to him in a rush every thing from the initial attack to his explosive escape from the vault. Of course one thing stood out to him more than any thing one crucial thing that was the most important.

He kissed Jen

He couldn’t help but grin a little as he swung out of bed barely even noticing his injuries were taken care of. Even in all of the chaos he was still just impressed he had managed to kiss the angel of death her self! He idly wondered if she liked the nickname she had around the office. He thought it was sexy but of course that was his own opinion.

He got up pulling his coat back on and keeping the hood down, as long as he kept it turned off it wouldn’t sap his juice and all in all it was a good piece of equipment to have. He stepped out of the room and moved quickly going up the staircase and onto the top of the deck. He spotted Jen off to the side with Jake and made his way over to them both whistling as he spotted the rather spacious estate they were pulling into.

“Nice digs” He remarked raising an eyebrow as he looked over at Jen “you didn’t tell me your boy friend was so loaded” He said keeping his eyes firmly locked on her to gauge her reaction. Okay so he was curious could he really be blamed?

Jen couldn't rest. She didn't want to think how HQ could be overrun so easily. Where had they come from? Why wasn't there an alarm immediately raised? Why didn't the defenses come up? Why were most of the Specialists out? And were they even alive? Jen wouldn't know until she accessed the drive in her hand. And if she accessed it, whoever was in Serpent would be able to track her.

It was going to be complicated. She had to move from one access point to another as she accessed details of different agents to contact them.

All the complications distracted her. She stood from the room and walked over to the bow, leaning on the railings to clear her mind. The place was as beautiful as she remembered it. The lake ended in a sparsely wooded cove where Jake's mansion rested. It had too many rooms and recreational facilities and was only used when he held parties. Jake brought her here once, thinking to score one on her. He still thought he did when she knocked him out cold after finding out that she was a spy. He let her think she gave him a night. That was always useful when she needed a favor from him.

"So, what happened?"

"We got compromised. Can't go back."

"Care to share the details?"

Jen shook her head. "You know I don't tell you anything beyond what you need to know."

Jake frowned but let it go. "You know you can always turn to me for help."

"You know I do."

“Nice digs. You didn’t tell me your boy friend was so loaded."

Jen spun, surprised that Tim was up, looking as if he wasn't banged up or almost fainted after their skirmish.

"He's not my boyfriend," she growled at him a little too adamantly. "I should have left you to die. You almost killed me. But what can I do when I have to babysit another agent."

"Um, you two aren't friends?"

"Hell no," Jen muttered, folding her arms under her breasts. "I have to be insane to be friends with him."

“We’re more coworkers” Tim explained glancing at her and raising an eyebrow “rival coworkers to be honest though I guess both of us our unemployed now…….”

“Ah I see” Jake said looking between the two of them. Tim noticed the flash of jealousy in his eyes and pretended not to notice instead walking over to the railing and eyeing the huge mansion they were heading towards.

“Nice place” He murmured turning to look at Jake “thanks again for letting us hide out here”

“Oh any thing for Jen” Jake said smiling at her “me casa su casa”

“Wonderful” Tim murmured glancing over at her “Speaking of which we should probably talk about what our next move is unless your planning on doing some kind of “lone wolf I’m going to wage a one man war against serpent” suicide mission which I would highly warn against”

Before she could answer they pulled in coming to a stop at the spacious dock connecting the waterfront to the main house. He saw the deckhands securing the boat and raised an eyebrow not saying any thing more and instead following Jake off the ship and onto the docks. The mansion ground was spacious with a lot of open ground and minimal tree line. The mansion it self was large sprawled out as if it was lazily stretching in every direction. Even Tim couldn’t help but be a little impressed by the digs even if it was a bit ostentatious in his opinion.

“This way” Jake said seeming a little nervous as he led the two up the steps “I had my cooks prepare a large lunch no doubt you two are hungry after your ideal”

“Uh thanks” Tim said glancing at him why was he so nervous? Hadn’t Jen been here before?

Tim turned to Jen raising an eyebrow as if to ask her what was wrong with him. Was this how he normally acted? He silently asked her trying to convey what he wanted to with his eyes.

Jen shrugged as they went up the stairs. Must be something about work or some other thing. She nodded to him telling him she'll find out. Which would mean more flirting with the guy out of Tim's line of sight. There was no way Jake would open up in front of a complete stranger.

She held back a sigh. The worst part about being a female agent is that she often had to use her sexuality to get what she wanted without causing a ruckus. She didn't like it, but it was part of the job description where most of the most powerful in the world are men.

Jake took them right to table and almost immediately, his servants rolled out the food. It was the usual fanfare of fancy European food that were always outrageously priced in restaurants. This was one of the reasons she tolerated flirting with Jake. The food was always awesome.

"So, how long can we hide out with you?"

"As long as you want, beautiful." He winked at her. "I know you love the food here."

"Thanks so much. I knew I can always count on you." She smiled touching his leg and his face brightened. "But, I also need to go to the city every once in a while. So...can I borrow your toys. Please."

"Of course." He looked at Tim who didn't seem to be all too happy and ginned at him smugly.

"Anyway, thanks for the meal, Jake. Tim and I have some things to talk about. And then, we can talk later? I'll be at my usual room."

"Not in mine?" Tim asked.

Jen gave him a flirtatious wink before grabbing on Tim's hand and taking him up to her room. She shut the door and locked it behind her. "You're right. He's acting strangely. I'll find out what it is, but whatever happens, this data has got to be safe. I may not like you much, Finisher, but I have to trust you." She handed him the flash drive.

Finisher was the name everyone called him when he wasn't around. It was only fitting. He either finished the job or finished off people. In short, if anyone wanted anything done, Tim was the man for it.

“I always hated that damn nickname” Tim murmured pocketing the flash drive and sitting on her bed.

“He keeps checking his watch” Tim admitted having spent the majority of the time studying him “He seems nervous around you a bit remorseful I don’t know every thing in my gut is saying that this guy is up to or hiding some thing and he doesn’t want us to know honestly it could be him just being insecure or same male fight for your attention but it could also be a trap”

“We also have more pressing matters” Tim reminded her eyeing her up and down “We have virtually no idea what happened how serpent found us, where the boss is, where roscoe is we got attacked and hit virtually out of nowhere how the hell did they find us? And if they had that information how do we know they don’t already have the position and identity of all our deep cover agents?”

Tim was worried, worried serpent would either tell the imbedded operatives friends that they were secretly spies which would likely result in their death or they would just go after them and kill them their selves. Each fate didn’t bode well for the people undercover if they were lucky serpent didn’t have the data Tim was know in charge of and he and Jen might be able to launch a rescue operation and extract them.

“We need to work together on this” Tim said standing up and looking her in the eye “be partners It’s the only way these people are going to make it out safely I’ve always thought you were a good agent even if we we’re rivals if any one can do this it’s us”

Jen sat together on the bed with Tim, rubbing her temples. "All this is giving me a headache. I joined this organization to infiltrate and keep people safe. Not to be infiltrated and be the cause of why people die." I shake my head. "As much as I hate to admit it, you could be right. There might be a mole, and for the mole to launch something like this so unexpectedly--and I really hope I'm wrong in this--it's got to be someone high up. Very high up. I mean, I've got a high tier clearance and I don't think I'll be able to pull this off."

Jen sighed and met his eyes, smiling. "As much as I think working together will make us butt heads all the more, you're right. I'll work together with you. Other than the fact that there's no one else, I'd bet my life on your skills. But that doesn't mean you'll be the boss of me."

Not that she really minded him bossing her around in some areas where he knows exactly what he's doing more than she did. But those are very few and far between. And for some reason, the thought reminded her of how he stole a kiss from her. Nope. She didn't mind that time he bossed her around.

Jen walked over to the closet and opened it showing an arsenal of sexy lingerie and nightwear and sighed. She absolutely hated this part of the job but she had to do it. She took out a pair of red panties and a pink babydoll then turned to him. "You might want to go back to your room. Likely it's the one three doors down. I'll see what I can pry off him."
