my PC is crap and I desperatly need to FDISK. problems are:

a) bad floppy drive >.<

b) fdisk.exe & format.com aren't found on my computer

c) the windows 2000 pro CD won't let me create a bootable disk either because it just closes and does nothing when I type in a drive letter.

d) FINALLY got a Win98 bootable CD-R by someone who claims it would at least get me into DOS and allow me to FDISK ...

e) I get an error message that tells me "boot failure" when trying to run it on start-up.

Can you change your BIOS settings boot sequence to boot from CD first?

I'd get a new floppy drive before I lost all my shit though.

yes, and that's when I get the boot error message. >.< I have everything backed up so I'm not worried about losing anything.

So the computer runs Power On Self Test successfully? Then starts to look for the OS and goes to the CD drive (CD drive whirrs) and you get that message?

correct, then it just continues to load like normal. the CD drive DOES work, too. I'm using it currently to listen to my Queen of the Damned soundtrack.

its not the real win 98 cd ... its just files from the bootable disk that I burned onto a CD-R ...

Bring your computer to my house and let me look at it. LOL.

Win2000 uses NTFS and Win98 uses FAT32. That is might be an issue.

Why not download some partitioning software off the INTERNET and try that.

I am sure you can find a pirated version of Partion Magig somewhere. :)

Did you try to download some free software?

Microsoft isn't the only company that makes disk utilities!!!!!!!

~sighs~ thanx anywho. I found a program that will help WHEN I find the crack for it. if worse comes to worse I'll just do what I keep saying and get myself a new HD.
