I read it on an article over on CNN a couple of weeks ago, the course was originally meant for college level students and phsycology but the education system thought it was such a good thing to teach preteens that they went ahead and added it to the ciriculum.

I'm sometimes embarrassed in my lack of knowledge about some things, but I just looked on a twenty dollar bill. Aren't those Federal reserve notes? What's "real money" then? And as far as I know, the government has no monopoly on banking.

Hello...sex was around long before birth control ever was. Sex is natural and it starts humming along without any help from outside influences. Studies are showing girls are entering puberty as early as 8 and 9 years old nowadays. Someone needs to educate them. A lot of parents don't.

If you have a daughter and can talk with her about such things as sex and birth control then Bravo you will have done well. It is so with our daughter. However there are plenty of young girls out there that do not share such a relationship with their parents. Would you rather they just take their chances? They are most likely already sexually active once they start thinking about birth control so better to keep them informed and protected. And society does benefit. One less pregnant teen is one less potential dropout, welfare statistic. If the parents have not shown the interest to inform their kids then why do they need to be informed in this regard. If you don't want them to have access to birth control then don't bitch about welfare.

The quote is one I have seen in some of the books about European History of Education.

They actually refer to pedofilia, finger fucking and homosexuality. They also maintain that within it's Historical context, it was a good thing if not actually benificial to all the parties concerned, could be seen as a stop gap life saver.

The story as I read it was in the "Low Countries" and a couple of hundred years ago, so as to if it being a good idea now, may be a little out of date and not applicable.
