A trans person, pre op and MtF, was on ITV morning television in UK earlier today.
She was talking about below age people making decisions on their gender Of course there are laws in place, but young people can make a decision, and then act on it when an adult.
She was advising caution, to getting to know themselves, and not to commit to anything. Effectively to take the pressure off themselves, enjoy today, and make decisions when the time is right, but in their own time and at their own pace.
She strongly advised against peer or other pressure being put on them Instead love, and calmness.
Seemed good to me, though I am not in that situation. She made it clear the risk of mental illness is there, and that security, family, friends vital.

It always was this way before social media hysteria created a pile-on of people with opinions but no knowledge. I was lucky to be in a loving family who listened to balanced advice and allowed me the time to figure things out.
There's so much misinformation that is trying to stall even the most basic medical research. There was also a recent TV interview of an outspoken detransitioner, who claims her experience is a template for all trans kids. I feel sorry for her, but only 1% or so of medical transitioners express regret: far less than hip replacement operations. The publicity she has been given misrepresents the facts, but it's clickbait and a makes TV stations loads of money.

Anyhow I don't want to lecture but here's some cited facts
It was never possible to get transgender surgery for U-18s in the UK
Puberty blockers cannot be prescribed for people U-18 in the UK
A medical trial of blockers on 226 U-16 children has been paused
The suicide rate amongst U18s rose fivefold since the restrictions on UK trans care

TLDR
UK used to be tolerant of transgender people but isn't anymore
