You did leave something out.

Straight men:
- unable to show emotion
- care more about beer and sports than women
- womanizers
- only care about sex in relationships
- get themselves off and leave the women hanging
- starve if they don’t have a microwave or a grill
- egotistical
- bad dressers

Common stereotypes, of course.

Apparently a stereotype was a sort of photograph. I'm not sure how it came to be used in this context.

Oh really? The sarcasm was so subtle that I would've totally missed it if you hadn't said that. :p

That seems like a fairly complete set of GLB (no T I guess) stereotypes. It's sad that people hold to these as inherently true.

One of my personal pet peeves though, and oh how I despise it, is when people go out of their way to be the stereotypes; and I see that far too often, especially in the GLBT community (of course perhaps I just notice it more).

Also:
Straight women:
- cruel
- selfcentered
- egoists with no respect for true friendship
- WEIRD way of thinking
- always wanting to be the center of attention
- will do anything to get their job done
- despisable even within moments of knowing them
- hot:)
- living gossip tabloids
- did I mention cruel, spineless, making mockery out of everyone(even poor geeks with glasses and acme:)-joking...)
- and last of all, always blaming others and not realising they acted like bitches..

No, I'm not misogyne nor gay:) I like women so take this as a mildly sarcastic reply- though some of my pionts are true as you might see yourselves..

i found this on a thread i started ages ago ... sort of reminded me of this thread

if i was looking at myself from a stereotype point of view these would be reasons i might be gay .... or straight :) ... the list is still pretty upto date for me even though it's two years old

i might be straight because :

i have longish hair
i wear skirts (short ones too) lingerie and even some days make up
when i was young i used to play with girls even sometimes with their dolls
i actually went on a date with a guy once

i might be gay because :

i like to watch football and not for the guys in shorts ... even worse i play football
i don't have talon length finger nails
i wear jeans more then skirts
i like computers and geeky stuff like sci-fi

more reasons i might be straight :

sometimes i just like to dress sexy and look hot
i like some types of porn
"sexy-girl" it just doesn't sound very gay
semi nude av's on a site where their are "MEN" *shock*

more reasons i might be gay :

i hate men :p
likes glam even more as a person not just his for his av's and gayness (unlike most straight women here :p)
i have steamy sex with a very hot girl pretty regular
has a crush on never (ok ok i know a lot of straight women do too)

I don't see jeans or computers/sci-fi as stererotyically gay for a woman to be interested in, but maybe that's just me.

Are you thinking of a stereogram? Or perhaps a daguerrotype?

Probably. Turns out a stereotype is also some sort of metal printing plate cast from a matrix molded from a raised printing surface, such as type. And the last part of that sentence was cut+paste from Dictionary.com

God bless online dictionaries!

We all know that this is not true...but it's great to be exposed to the "other side". Thanks, Alpha!
