Three years ago when Jon was almost done with high school his father passed away. Jon got the house and the land to him self. He couldn't stay there and needed some time away so he stuck with his plan to go to college out of state and he had taken that time to heal.

Jon is 21 years old standing 5 feet 10 inches (just under 2 meters tall). He was normal height with a athletic build of 200 pounds. Jon just finished his last class the week before. He spent that week packing and shipping his stuff home by FedEx. What he couldn't ship he donated to a shelter. The next day he grabbed a flight to Seatac airport to return to his land that he had taken a leave of to heal.

Jon didn't know what to expect as he unlocked the front door and walked into the house that sat empty for 3 years. He lived on a hill top with only one other house near by. The 2 homes where once owned by a family that owned a vast spread of land but land titles changed hands to the Gordonson family who sold half the land to a old family friend who had his family live in the other house. The 2 homes where the only places for miles around. Jon found it settling but a bit unsettling to be back in the house where every thing is just as he left it before he went to college to get away. Jon unpacked a bit and fired up the grill on the deck in the back of the house where there was some wood left in the wood shed. He wondered if his old best friend still lived next door. He got to thinking the smoke will be a invention for her to swing by if she lived there. Jon set to grilling a package of meat that he had shipped to his house from his favorite meat company. He had nothing but time to kill as he waited for the food to cook and see if anyone would come visiting.

"You do have a good memory," Sierra chuckled, as she watched the car pull up to the front porch of her house. She was on her third date with this guy she had met at her new job fresh out of college. Well, not just any guy, but her boss - or to be more precise, her's boss's boss.

As he came over to her side to open the door for her, she stepped out carefully, to prevent her short dress from riding up her thighs too much. She wouldn't want him to think that she was out to seduce him.

They walked slowly to her doorstep, and then they paused. She could see lights from inside the house, which meant that her folks were around. He probably saw the same thing too.

They stood, facing one another, for a somewhat awkward moment. He took his chances, and slowly leaned in towards her for a kiss, which she was about to accept when she saw in the corner of her eye that there were lights coming from the house next door too. It was the first time in years.

As their lips met, Sierra flinched, causing him to stop immediately. She began to apologise but he replied that it was ok - he had been too presumptuous. Sierra reached out and placed her hand on his arm, and reassured him that it was nothing of the sort.

"I really enjoyed this evening, thanks to you. Maybe I could invite you in for coffee the next time," Sierra said, her eyes fixated onto his. Then she leaned forward, and with a bit of tip-toeing, reached up to his lips.

They broke apart after the brief kiss, before he thanked her too for the lovely evening. Sierra stood at the front of her door, and watched his car pull away slowly, as if mirroring the owner's reluctance to leave.

She turned her head to watch the lights from the neighbouring house once more. She didn't recall it going up for sale. Could it be?

But she had had a long day, and had an early morning meeting the next day. Perhaps she would pop by tomorrow to find out.

Jon seen the car pull up. He watched the bombshell of his old best friend Sierra make her way out of the car. He smiles as it looks like she was on a good date. He wonders if she would remember him still with him being gone for 3 years. Jon knows he missed a lot. He hopes she wasn't married or anything like that.
Jon looked at his cell and seen the time. He got up grabbed his plate and pulled the food off the grill. Jon loved the old grill. Jon always put the meat on the top so the fat would drop off on the veggies on the lower rack with the veggies sitting on a metal plate. Its been along time sense he got to do this.

Jon added more wood to the grill and left the lid open for a little extra light now that all the food was off the grill. He knew tomorrow would be a busy stuff with FedEx dropping his stuff off from the college dorm.

Sierra woke up earlier than expected, kept awake by the thoughts she had on the presentation she had to make at work this morning. Meetings were a bit of a bane to her, even if she was really doing quite well at work.

She brewed her usual pot of coffee, which as it turned out, to be larger than what she needed. She keeps forgetting that her younger brother was already away at college, and that her parents seldom needed this much kick for the day.

And just as she was about to toss the extra coffee she remembered the lights in the neighbouring house. She looked down at what she was wearing, which was essentially a cream bathrobe around her white nightie. She pulled the strings tightly around her waist just to make sure no accidents would happen.

If it was a new neighbour, there's no better way to say hello than with a fresh pot of coffee. If it was Jon...

Well, frankly, Sierra didn't know how she would respond if it was really Jon who was back.

...

She pressed the doorbell and waited, pulling together the collar to her bathrobe as she felt the first wind chill of the morning.

Jon was sitting at the old kitchen table using the file to sharpen then axe he will be using for cutting wood. He heard the door bell and it had taken him by surprise. Jon got up wearing his old highschool sweat pants as he walked to the door setting the axe down by the fireplace and the file on the mantel. Jon taken the last few steps and opened the door expecting to find no one at his door but odds are that guy n the sports car at the house next door. When he opened the door his mouth feel open in shock.
After a second or two he say very happily "Sierra you silly thing you, come on in don't catch cold out there" as his eye take in her bathroom. With the wind blowing it was parting the bottom of her robe a bit to show her bare legs and the bottom of her nightie. Jon opened the door wide open for her as he turned with his right hand lifting up and out to show her the way. With Jon being sideways to her and the living room he told her "Um I didn't get to uncover the couch or anything just been sitting out back or in the kitchen."

Jon was very pleased to see his old friend here, no better face to see in the morning after just waking up about 20 minutes ago. And coffee to boot, that's something he had forgot to pack. He was thinking he would have to start his day off with out it and that always set a day off on a bad foot with him. He was so happy he wanted to kiss her but didn't know if he should with her having a boyfriend or what ever he was to her. Jon smiled knowing if she was out on a date shes not married, yet.

In the seconds of seeing her and taking in her outfit all the old feelings came back. She was his other half, but then he didn't know just how much of him self was left back home. He wanted to fly back and tell her but he couldn't be on the land. It was to nice with him n such a gloomy place. A apartment in the concrete jungle with all the hustle and bustle where no one really knows anyone is what he needed just to be a face in the crowd. Seeing her face again reminded him of all the silly things they did as a kid like talking into two cans on a string when Jon was told he couldn't have a phone in his bedroom till he could pay for his own line. All the time they spent walking or swimming together being the only kids for mile helps you get past the cootie stage fast. He wondered if he could read her like a book. He could see tension on her face. Was it him or the unknown person in this house that made her face get that look. Maybe it was work or relationship problems. He couldn't tell but knew her mind was busy.

Sierra held onto her pot of coffee as she stepped into the house. It felt so foreign even though she had spent so much of her childhood in this house; the pot of coffee was the only thing she felt familiar about.

She was right. She had no idea how to react if it was Jon. She went straight to the kitchen, partially because there was no where else to sit, and partially because she wanted to find a place to leave the coffee. She realised she would have to lend Jon the pot as well, at least for now.

As Sierra laid down the pot on the kitchen top, she finally released her fingers slowly, took a deep breath, and looked at Jon straight in his eyes.

"It's been a while," she said, unconsciously reaching up one side of her head, and pulling her hair behind her ear.

"Ya it has, This place had to many memory's that wouldn't let me heal, but I missed you the most." Jon sat on the floor in font of her, so close her ties where touching his legs. Jon is looking up at her now. Jon said "You looked surprised, where you wanting someone new here? Who was that guy you where with last night. The one with the fancy car?" Jon asked the last 2 questions with a smile on his face and the tone where Sierra know he wanted to know.

OOC: It's been a while, and both my co-author and I have not been back to this forum for some time. If you are interested to revive this, send me a PM. I may take a while to respond. Love, Sierra.

Jon is looking up with interest on his face as he waits to hear about it.
