My new story (actually my previous new story as well) hasn't garnered any comments yet. Do comments generally taper off over the course of a multi-part story? Or maybe it was just because it debuted way at the bottom of the list of new stories and didn't get the reads as a result (it took a day and a half to get 10 votes, the 11th was a 1-bomb).

It is definately motivating to get comments and votes, and somewhat demotivating to when that doesn't occur.

Who knows! Sometimes comments come thick and fast sometimes they come months after you have submitted. Don't be despondant just keep writing!

Personally, I would prefer to get one or two positive comments than a bunch of Troll dreck.

Page views and votes tell a bigger story, however some stories take off and some take time to build.

Never can tell what the readers like or don't like.

Just write for yourself and have fun!

Peace.

I only have the one series, and it's only three parts, but yes, it is tapering off in views, votes, and comments.

My new story has more votes than any of my others, but only one comment.
Maybe readers are being a bit comment-shy right now *shrugs*

People are lazy. Sometimes they don't finish a story either, so they don't vote and they don't leave comments.

True enough. Actually, if the story is particularly steamy, it is a bit of a compliment that they don't finish! Finish reading that is.
