Some of you comment my stories anonymously. But you ignore something I observe most of the time: Hallmarks that identify you. Theyre obvious to me. Here you talk out your ass but I know when you pay me a stealth visit. Be bold, be brave, use your real name.

I turned off the anonymous posts to my stories.

When I allowed readers to post anonymously, all I received were bashing comments from the whackos too afraid to identify themselves for fear that their stories would be bashed too.

Now, even though I receive less comments, the comments that I receive are more useful.

Moreover, speaking of comments. Too many readers are afraid to leave comments and/or to even vote. They fear that Big Brother, the Cloud, or the NSA will somehow reach through their computer screen and identify them. They're afraid that their significant others will discover they they read porn and aren't the Bible thumper that they thought they were when they married them.

"Honey? What's this e-mail from Literotica? Do you read that stuff? Someone named JB wrote that you're hot."

So where's HW Ch. 5 so I can comment on it?

Laurel rejected it as too violent but its not snuff. So I'll change it and re-submit. In a nutsack, Marlin kills a serial killer who murdered a prosecutor and judge.

How 'bout a link? I'll read, and always comment with my real fake name. But I don't even know what handle you write under.

Name names! This could be amusing.

I have always commented under my name, unless its a contest entry and I want to be very positive, then I go anon so people who don't like me don't zero in on that person's story....so yeah, I comment nicely anon:rolleyes: But will follow it up with a private feedback telling them who I am.

I rarely blast a story, usually I eye roll and wander off, no vote, no comment. When I do feel compelled to be negative its always with this name and yes I've had my stories hit for it and nasty anon left on mine, but who cares? Its a free site we're not paid by score or positive comment.

OK. I guess your other two serials will have to be consolation.

Glad to support something really different to shake up LW.

I changed 5 and re-submitted. She and I talked about it but I made a few changes and we'll see what happens about Friday.

From now on when I comment on your stories I'll include the phrase "Arg! This here be shit, Matey!" That way you'll know it's me. I'm too lazy to do the whole log on thingy when I'm just trolling :D

Not that JBJ really has any idea who is commenting anonymously on his stories.

Thanks for the heads up.

I like noir, though I'm not really a big fan of the classic detective stuff. I reread Cape Fear several months ago. All I could see was Robert Mitchum in my mind. Scary book, scary movie. Liked Black Dahlia. Really liked Sharp Objects, by the author of Gone Girl.

Anyway, good to see a Literotica version of noir beginning. Maybe others will be inspired.

I just remembered a Lit story that is about as dark as it gets. Mad Dog and the Dream by SirThopas. Very intense.

That paragraph is a paradox in itself.

Not necessarily. I have had some anon comments that by the style of them I attribute to a certain forum member.

Now the thing with anon is there is never any proof short of the person admitting it which if they were willing to do that would never use anon in the first place.

No matter how obvious a remark is anon gives it reasonable doubt.

Which is why I don't understand why people have to hide behind anon. Our author/posting names here are not our real names, we are still anon.

It all comes down to fear of having stories bombed, like in the grand scheme of life getting a one bomb on a story really means something.

But its allowed a lot of things here to run rampant because people are afraid to post anything publicly for fear of the all scary one bomb. Anyone so afraid of a one here makes me wonder how timid they are in real life.

Yep. Anonymous comments come from writers. Mostly our friends and admirers. And all of them leave breadcrumb trails that give them up.

It's fairly obvious posters in this forum comment anon. I have had comments where they say something that was just said on the boards, mention things I have said on the boards and of course anytime there is a flame out here lo and behold I have a handful of nasty anon comments some on stories no one has commented on in months.

Back in the Summer when the whole 'secret society' thing was going on I received four waves of over two dozen nasty remarks at a time all corresponding with a fresh wave of arguments.

The last batch was so nasty they were removed by the administrator without me reporting them-unless someone else did-so yes, people here comment and someone would have to be pretty dense to deny that.

Noir is a genre (I define genre as a distinct variety within a category) that comes and goes. Noir is supposed to shock and stun at all levels, but we don't want it all the time. Its what I do, and all need to find their special niche.

Are there really that many mean people here? I've seen a few arguments in threads but nothing really bad. Maybe I'm being a naive newbie.

I have anon comments on because I'll be wanting as much input as I can get once I start posting stories. Good or bad, I want input.

LIT is fulla human people who talk one way and walk another. A few are congruent enough to act as they feel but the real function of our mature selves is to make good choices about when and where to act.

If you want to see lit version of reddit go check out the general board. Some fun people but a lot of asshat live to be mean trolls.

There are a few, but they truly are in the minority. Things don't always come out as intended in the forum medium and sometimes that makes good people seem like bad people. Also good people sometimes have bad days and come off bad. It's a lot like the real world like that.

If you choose to be offended, you will be. If you choose not to be offended then you won't be. As far as the readers go, I have many tens of thousands of reads and less than a hundred bad comments on my stories. Sounds very much like a troll minority to me.
