Comment Moderation

I have a story that got fewer comments than normal. At first, I just assumed that it didn't land with readers (which is fine), but then I got contacted by a reader who said something to the effect of "I know I already left you a comment, but I just wanted to say..."

and they didn't. I don't have a comment from that reader. Is it possible that a comment or two on my most recent story, Work in Progress, are stuck in moderation purgatory?

Did it ever show up? I had my own comment take about a day to show up recently, so I wondered if there was a shortage of comment moderators. It would be upsetting if comments are disappearing forever.

Comments not appearing

The comments on stories have been malfunctioning for about a month. After the story has been posted for a few days, they will all appear as they are supposed to.

For the first day or so, the most recent five comments may appear at the foot of the story as they should, but a totally different situation will occur when the 'All Comments' button is clicked. Sometimes clicking on the 'More Comments' may get the next five comments displayed and sometimes it won't. The number of comments will often be quite different in the 'All comments' list to the number shown at the foot of the story.

I have notified a bug, but no corrective action has been taken by the administrators.
