In the last few days I've received new comments on a few stories. However, when I look at the comments the dates are not today's but older. One was dated 2/13/20 another 5/22/20 and a few from early June.

Its obviously a glitch, but I'm wondering if the glitch is the date itself is wrong and this is a new comment or these things were somehow rattling around in limbo and found their way out?

None of them are duplicates from the prior dates and I checked to make sure they were in order and this wasn't the comment the notification was referring to.

A new twist on 2020...zombie comments rising from the dead.

I wonder if, since comment publication has been subject to a preapproval process, some comments have gotten lost in the system and their publication long delayed. That might be what's happening.

There is a glitch in comments I've noticed from time to time. When you follow the link from the home list, the new comment isn't there but if you go to each story and follow the comment link from there, you can see the new comment.

No zombies involved. The new corpus just ain't there yet.

Is it possible the commenter(s) could have edited their own post? That way it's still got the date they originally posted the comment, even though the edited version is new.

I'm not sure that's how it would work, just throwing it out there as an alternative explanation.

As far as I know you can't edit a comment once you've made it.

Copy that. Once posted, the comment originator is out of the loop. The only options past that are keep or delete, either by the story author or by Laurel.

You just need to be less cantankerous, LC. That way, people wouldn't comment so much ;).
