Coming Down On The Faraway Tree
(NOTE THIS IS THE NEW REVISED THREAD, AS THE OLD THREAD WASN'T SO CLEAR AND WILL LET IT JUST DIE.)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
NOTE: Anyone can join in and take up characters any time as they like. The only character not available to others at this time is 'Silky' which I've bagged. To see if others have been taken up yet just scroll through the role play.
IMPORTANT NOTE: My idea for this roleplay is to start a NEW THREAD for each new scene (e.g. when going inside a new room). Then once the new thread is started, place a link to it in this orginal thread so people can go to the new thread from the orginal thread. When that substory is finished, then place a link back to the original thread (to where you left off in the original thread). This might sound confusing, but if it does, just look at the roeplay and you'll probably get what I mean.
CONCEPT...
(Inspired by 'the Faraway Tree' books.)
SUMMARY OF 'THE FARAWAY TREE' BOOKS:
When they were children, siblings Tome, Bessie and Fanny lived in the country where they found an Enchanted Wood right on their doorstep! And in the wood stood the magic Faraway Tree. In that tree lived the magical characters that soon became their new friends - Moon-Face, Silky the fairy, and Saucepan Man. Together they visited the strange lands which were at the top of the tree and had the most exciting adventures - and narrow escapes! At different times, Tom, Bessie and Fanny had visits from snooty friend Connie, who became more plesant friend over time, and Tom's school friend Dick. (Have changed this from cousin in the original book.) Connie and Dick also went up the Faraway Tree at different times.
CONCEPT FOR ROLEPLAY...
Tom, Bessy, Fanny, Connie and Dick are now all approximately 18, 19, 20 years old. They decide to holiday together and stay in the original country cottage that Jo, Bessy and Fanny used to live in as children. Jo also brings along his girl friend and Fanny her boyfriend. And their plan is to revisit the Faraway Tree.
ROLES: (NOTE: NO INCEST IN ROLEPLAY PLEASE. ALL CHARACTERS R ADULTS.)
-Tom (male)
-Bessy
-Fanny
-Connie
-Dick
-Tom's girlfriend (name can be chosen)
- Fanny's boyfriend (name can be chosen)
(CHARACTERS CAN VARY IF PEOPLE WISH.)
Folk of the tree:
-Angry Pixie (gets grumpy when people peak in his window)
-Moon-Face (A pleasant friendly character)
-Silky the fairy (I bags this for myself)
-Saucepan Man (Saucepan man with all his sauce pans and kettles tied around him. He doesn't live up the tree, but visits his friends often. Does he wear any clothes under all those kitchen utensils?)
-Mr. Whatzhisname (Can't remember things so well, including his name)
-Dame Washalot (Always washing and tipping her washing water down the tree)
-Jo - a female pixie who lives in the Enchanted Wood, but who works part time for Dame Washalot in her laundry.
(Note, character's names can be varied somewhat, and other characters can be added later. Feel free to introduce new characters, etc.)
LAYOUT OF AREA:
- Country cottage with railway station nearby
- Enchanted Wood (nearby the cottage) and which is home to the Faraway Tree.
DESIGN OF TREE:
As you go up the tree, the first house that you come across is the Angry Pixie's... A neat tiny window, but you dare not peep! The Angry Pixie hates nosey people peeping into his house. Unless you are fond of having water and ink thrown at you, you would want to leave him alone and climb upwards.
The next house up the tree has a tiny little pink door, a little knocker and a brightly polished bell belongs to Silky-the elf. Isn't she beautiful? You must have guessed why she's called Silky, its because of her golden silky hair. She is kind little thing and will even make Pop biscuits for you, that go pop and fill your mouth with sweet honey.
Next house up belongs to Mr Whatzhisname who kept forgetting his name, so everyone called him Whatzhisname and when he did remember, it was so long that everyone decided to call him Whatzhisname.
Oh, now what's that's noise? But, we are already past Mr. Whatzhisname's house! Is there a waterfall up the faraway tree? Oh, that's just Dame Washalot washing her clothes and throwing the dirty water. Oh! Watch out!! Slish..slosh..slish..slosh!! I hope you haven't spoiled your clothes. clothes. Phew! Up we go! It comes from Dame Washalot's house which is next.
Finally at the top of the tree! Do come in, this cute little round house belongs to Moonface. He is such real darling and we are going to have lots of adventures with him and the others. See that opening right the middle of the floor? That's the "Slippery Slip"....Its slides right to the bottom of the tree. I know you are all eager to down down the slippery slip, but we still have to meet the others....So, lets hurry...
At the top of the tree you go through a hole in the clouds to get to a different kind of land each visit.

Oh dear. The system won't let me post the full link. So instead I suggest you Google 'You are up the faraway tree' and go to the site that comes up with that name. You might like to visit this site for more information about the original Faraway Tree books.
