Nice guy too. I was in NYC a few nights because my girl at the time had never been. A brutal summer thunderstorm caught us in Times Square. We took refuge at BB King’s Blues Club and there he was on the landing between bars contemplating to go back in or brave the rain. We talked a few. Looked in the bar and noticed the rain stopped. Back to regularly planned shenanigans…..
He laughed in real life same as on tv. Same accent too.
you beat me...i just signed on and saw this on my newsfeed. a lot more impactful than the death of some serial killer pos. for a while in the 60's, you couldn't turn on a variety show without seeing jackie mason, he was everywhere.
Oh wow, this is very sad and he was so hilarious!! Growing up and remember him on the Dean Martin roasting shows with all the late great comedians on there...
the animation The Ant and The Aardvark was actually my first childhood introduction to him, albeit indirectly, as the voice actor John Byner was purposefully imitating Jackie Mason for Aardvark. Then when I learned of Jackie himself, I was like, "wait, is he that aardvark motherfucker?". That was how signature his voice and cadence was, though.
