is cum a word? i just recieved feedback complaining that i used the word come instead of cum in a sexual situation. it was, of course, anonymous, so i have no way of responding.

i hate that...

but anyway, is cum a word? discuss.

I think come is a verb.

"I want to come."

Cum is a noun.

"His cum shot out on to my stomach."

I could be wrong though.

someone else just said the same thing on the gb. i can dig that, but i still won't use it. it just looks wrong.

Its slang

...Like dick, honkers, melons, prick, wanker....using it adds color and familiarity to a story...sometimes.

ahh, chicklet. what ever happened to her? if it's just slang then i don't care. i'll use come.

merriam-webster online dictionary says:

Main Entry: 2come
Function: noun
1 often vulgar : SEMEN
2 often vulgar : ORGASM

I also use "come". It just feels more correct to me. Proper English and all that.

Hmm, I guess I'm in a slim majority on the other side of the fence. I think come as a noun looks fucking stupid. My mind wants to read it as a verb so badly that I have to read it twice.

I don't know proper, but to me cum just looks more like a noun. It makes more sense to me as a replacement for semen. So it's a vulgarity? Fine, the point of usage is a casual form of semen anyways. If you want proper you can write semen.

On verb, I usually use the past tense 'came'. I never write "I'm coming" of either variety because I think its a stupid phrase and I don't use present tense "come" because I don't due present tense stories except on rare occassion.

well, if the character is speaking then "i'm coming!" might be appropriate for the character whether you like it or not.

and as far as i can tell cum and come are interchangable, so it's really up to the individual what he wants to use at any given time.

so, it's a word, but i still won't use unless i'm forced to.

just wanted to say, pointless, i love your magritte avatar! i was planning to use one (the gagged lovers ;) )

magritte is funny and a bit disturbing -- just my kind of feller.

cum.

but i can read cum or come happily i just prefer using cum myself as it just seems sexual...and fits in "right"

I think it's essentially a personal preference thing though.

As always I bow to EL spelling expertise.

I actually Used come in my first stories and got flack aboUt it. So I wrote two stories Using cUm and the are my most widely read--at least viewed--tales. Whatever that means.

I like the coloUr that cUm gives but woUld hesitate to use it in a period piece, I think.

I agree.

And so does Oklahoma University in its prospectus:

The University of Oklahoma Honors College has established unique requirements for graduating cum laude, magna cum laude, or summa cum laude. Both the final transcript and the diploma carry the designation. Degree candidates graduating cum laude wear a crimson satin hood with their cap and gown during the commencement ceremony

How about qcum?

(The "q" is silent.)

isn't "qcum" a green cylindrical vegetable ? often sliced into salads ... and occasionally used as a dildo ??

I prefer "cum" as a verb/noun in porn writing
