Quick poll.

Which of these are correct (only from the perspective of how to spell come/cum - I appreciate none of the lines are correct in some contexts):

1) I'll let you come if you're a good girl
2) I'll let you cum if you're a good girl
3) I don't like the taste of come.
4) I don't like the taste of cum.

I'm asking here because I wrote in to my local church's newspaper with this very question, but sadly it didn't get published.

Yeah, me too. Although sometimes sticky is ok.

I wonder though - and hence the point of this thread - whether the 'reader' either knows or cares that 1 and 4 are correct. Plus there's the (tired and seriously aggravating) argument that, if you spell it wrong often enough, it becomes right. In this context, that makes 1, 2, and 4 correct.

I can tolerate it, just. I'm not completely blameless though, I read one of my older stories a couple of days ago, and saw that I'd spelt it cum.

I wouldn't spell it that way now though, don't know why. I mean, I'll write mum, not mom, because one looks right, the other's American. It's probably something to do with that. Like colour, not color (which is too close to colon).

That's an American dictionary. If you use the Oxford English Dictionary, you'll probably get a mention, but it won't be the primary answer (not that I've checked). It really comes down to taste.

That dictionary supports 4 but not 2. 2 uses "cum" as a verb, and that dictionary source doesn't support the use of "cum" as a verb. It also says that "come" is more common, even as the noun, than "cum."
